Maybe I’m not unlovable. Just… incompatible. Like a puzzle piece from a different box, forced into a world where nothing was ever cut for me.
No matter how much I twist or shrink myself, I never seem to belong anywhere.

From Afar
“Where are you from?”
“I don’t really know.I’m just coming from afar”
My parents came from afar; before I started my teens
they decided to come back to their homeland.
I was not welcome in the village, I was coming from afar
neither in the big city, I had a funny accent.
When I married, I did it abroad
I was coming from afar
When I started working, I had to drive 50 kms, so
I was coming from afar.
From the city to the country again, coming from afar.
Working and driving, many years went by
and back to the city that had killed my father
everybody had changed, died or moved
and it wasn’t even my homeland.
So I’m still waiting for one last move. In the country,
but it doesn’t really matter
because, you know, I’m coming from afar.

Sometimes it’s okay to not fit in: Writing in the liminal spaces
While I was doing my five-minute break from work today, I pulled up YouTube and saw a video about feeling like you don’t belong by Marianne Cantwell And it was all about her book, which came from her experience. But her talk was about how some of us aren’t terribly good at fitting in and that’s okay. As a writer, I’ve felt this. And as a person, I’ve felt this. I almost quit my MFA during…

Feeling like you don't belong
I have a very weird taste.. in anything actually >_> given that I am from a certain country written on my passport I do not feel like I belong.. nothing in that country amuses me or pulls me towards it.. or even hearing someone offend it ignites any kind spark in my heart.. I find myself liking so many other cultures! Foods, behavior, way of life, dressing, even music or drama >_>U I am a weird mix of everything.. I like everything.. I don't hate anything I just have things that I adore and things that are normal.. But the 1st impression you get when you look at me is.. to me.. I feel old.. not awesome not ugly very normal.. but when I pass by I don't catch eyes.. which is good actually o.o XDDD I like to remain behind the curtains.. like I like to accomplish and control some areas.. but hidden.. I don't like the spotlights.. maybe because that way people would notice that I am different.. hmmm.. No its not it.. I just feel comfortable hidden like a goddamn shadow XP Sometimes its good feeling like you don't belong.. makes me feel unique.. Plus a mysterious woman is very attractive lol XDDD not only women even men maybe thats why in anime I'm always attracted to the calm strong characters XDDD Anyways I will just have to enjoy my difference I aint living for anyone and won't start who likes me for what I am he/shes more than welcome if not then BITE ME XDDD
“On belonging to not belonging”
- A little simple piece I wrote:
I want to experience stability and I want adventure. I want to feel comfortable and I want to feel uneasy. I want to know everyone and know no one. I want to feel connected and I want to feel separate. I want to exist and not exist. I want to be with someone and I want to be alone. I want to be respected and I want to be objectified. I want to feel and not feel. I want to be noticed and I want to be invisible. I want to be happy and I want to cry. I want to dance and I want to be still.
I am white and non-white. I am Hungarian and Indian. I am American and not American. I am a product of marriage and divorce. I am feminine and assertive. I am intelligent and scattered. I am confident and insecure. I am deep and shallow. I am content and depressed. I am loved and lonely. I am bourgie and broke. I am privileged and marginalized. I am cold and intense. I care and I am apathetic.
Contradictions comprise my identity. Contradictions comprise my tastes. There is no belonging in a homogeneous space.

To be brutally honest...
T.B.B.H.~ Do you ever get the feeling that you don't belong? Yeah well i get that every day from my friends and family, like i love them dearly, but... out of all my friends i'm the only one that likes these random things, like ketchup on spaghetti(Yum) or something silly like that; I guess everybody's different....
Invisible
(By Jyanny - Richmond Community High School)
Many times, I feel invisible.
Many times, I feel so odd.
