This item isn't just an Easter Egg referencing the game Minecraft. It's also one of the most useful items in Skyrim! The Notched Pickaxe, as you can see from the above stats, actually raises your Smithing skill while using it to mine. While normally you can only build this skill through actually crafting Armor and Weapon items, this Pickaxe provides a handy bypass. To find it, head over to the Throat Of The World and climb the mountain opposite of the Word Wall. Upon reaching the top, you should see a flat area with some Mining areas, and the Notched Pickaxe lodged in a peak nearby.
