Samsung went with the same strategy as the transition from the Galaxy S3 to S4 with the Note 3, which is, bigger screen, 5.7 inch, and smaller bezel meaning the size of the phone is practically the same as its previous model. Apart from that; bumping up the pixels per inch with a 1080p screen, increase in ram, bigger battery, better camera and throwing in a faster processor is a predictable move but much needed.
To me, the new Note doesn't look particularly stunning but it doesn't mean its ugly and is kind of like a stretch out S2. But instead of the plastic back removable clip cover found on previous versions, they instead opted for a faux-leather finish meaning no finger prints and better grip. I think this was a smart move by Samsung as the size of the previous generations of the Note + a plastic rear casing causes a none-steady grasp in the hands compared to look of the new textured back of the Note 3.
RAM was bumped up to 3GB which is needed with Samsung's power hungry, touchwiz interface. We will see if this makes a difference as the company has not implemented too many features this time around, which is a very very good move. I always felt Samsung went in too early with additional Samsung/touchwiz exclusive features as the RAM is almost maxed out by the use of these in the background. But 3GB might just finally be able to get rid of that stutter.
This new feature is available through he new Air Command popup and allows you to quickly and easily add new a new note. This would be a great asset to my lifestyle as I do this constantly with Google Keep but I have it on my current lock screen as a widget, which people can see, and as a widget on my main homepage. With this, you can access it anytime.
I am happy that Samsung responeded to thier rediculous 9GB of free storage on the Galaxy S4 although they advertised 16GB. I know a lot of suppliers do this, but 9GB! Its good to see we are budging awa for the 16GB starting size as it is just not enough anymore. Good move Sammy!
