Cheow Lan Day Tour
Our first day at Cheow Lan Lake was a full-day group tour from Khao Sok Village. We signed up for it mainly because the brochure promised kayaking.
We first visited a cave, with bats and insects and such. One of the members of the group was deathly afraid of spiders and had to leave. Another seemed to think the cave floor was very fragile and requested permission from the guide before taking each step. But the main problem with the cave was that it was not kayaking.
Next, we went on a “jungle trek” – a 1km walk that meandered back to the starting point and, inexplicably, took our group over an hour to complete. It also was not kayaking.
After all that followed by lunch, we had less than an hour remaining for kayaking. But the kayaks were at least an hour of paddling away from the limestone! This was an insufficient amount of kayaking. We vowed to return soon for more kayaking.
