I think the writing isn't great ATM. Some of the lines really grate on me, they sound rather jarring coming out of the actors mouths. There's one that really did annoy me but it's too early and I can't remember it. For me Neverland was the worse the show has had to offer. It dragged on and on and on and on. Also the format change from then on has sort of ruined it. Because they have to jam pack an arc and all the action in to 11 episodes regarding a set of new characters they bring in for each half of a season and all that does is take away from the core characters and their screen time. It reminds me of Torchwood. Two seasons then format change. And it just ruins it for me. I dislike CS/OQ pairings a lot. It's pretty obvious why I dislike CS and the message it gives out, with OQ I was prepared to it give it a chance but it was rushed imo. I kept waiting for an Enchanted Forest scene showing something more to their relationship in the missing year but there wasn't. And we totally know any flash backs from now onwards of that will be retcons. And I just think regardless of what OQ is, I don't like Regina following pixie dust because it feels yet again like another decision has been taken away from her. Emma, Snow, Charming, Regina, Henry and Gold were always the core of the show. And when they are scarificed so Hook can have screentime trailing behind after Emma for no reason it's annoying - why is he always doing sheriff work with her? It's constantly like Take Your Boyfriend To Work day in Storybrooke. And more time should be focused on all the other characters, I miss the season 1 interactions with the Storybrooke towns people. The amount of plotholes. I'm hopeful in the end we'll be given answers to all the times we sit there and remember that thing that happened however many seasons ago that seemed important at the time but has never been mentioned again. Hopefully but not confident. When this show is good I really do love it, but season 1 was the best so far because it's like they actually knew what they were doing with it. It's like they had direction. Since they broke the curse they just have to keep on inventing all the action, and in the meantime forgetting the quiet moments. Well, worse than forgetting because the actually film seasons where the characters actually talk about the important stuff and then DELETE THEM! And the timeline on the show annoys me. The time each ep covers since S3 and the time between is so small, episode 3.11 is probably like 8 days ago or something in their time and it's frustrating. I find that slows the pace down more than letting the characters talk ever would. It's just niggle-y things that don't do the show justice. It's such an amazing idea and was great in Season 1 but now it just feels like they have something they don't know what to do with, other than keep making money out of it, and it's why it all feels disjointed and they don't make the right decisions on what to focus on. Lana had to fight for RB, the storyline with Snow and baby Neal could have been great - I found that really interesting - but it seems that was solved with a walk and chat to Will Scarlet. Frozen is so obviously a cash grabbed because the story isn't really about them. It's the Snow Queen's story, they were just the trojan horse used to bring in viewers whilst telling that story. The CGI is super awful. Lol. The fandom can be a hard place to be for lgbt SQ shippers right now. I could go on but that's a lot of moans about it already. Now, I watch for Lana. She is the shows best asset, even saying stupud lines like "bring it Greenie" or when she only gets 30 seconds screentime. And I watch for the Swan Queen/Swan-Mills Family subtext, which is such an obvious, perfect, rounded story arc it frustrates me that it's all apparently "unintentional" - but mainly I watch for Regina's arc because Lana has played that wonderfully and it's compelling.
