And I’m done!

Okay, so that was actually a good experiment! I will probably do this again and within more frequency so I can do smaller chunks of writing without feeling too pressured to do loads. I feel good about myself now.

But how much did I write? I actually wrote 546 words which, although it doesn’t sound a lot, is pretty much an A4 piece of paper worth of writing. I’m very happy with that, considering I don’t have any dialogue thus far in this chapter I’m working on. I won’t reveal what I wrote yet because it’s part of a story I want to be completely finished before I start posting it. A first for me.

And the music I was listening to? I was listening to Nothing Is Still by Leon Vynehall. It’s a jazzy, orchestral, and at times electronic album with sounds of cars and other real life things thrown into it. There’s no singing whatsoever, but I thoroughly enjoyed this album and suggest you get it too, even if you don’t use it for writing purposes. It’s just a great album.

And, with that, see you guys later. Hopefully, I’ll do this again really soon and get more writing done without the pressure of having nothing to say and feeling the marching of time affecting my motivation.

Où est passé le mojo de Leon Vynehall ?

A GMD, même si on a pas toujours été tendres avec lui, dans le fond on l'aime bien Leon Vynehall. Ses mixes fiévreux nous laissent à chaque fois un souvenir ému, et sur disque sa house toute douce (bien qu'un rien grandiloquente parfois) trouve toujours le moyen de nous toucher le cœur entre deux déhanchés. A priori, et vu que son dernier EP date d'il y a bientôt deux ans déjà, tous les ingrédients sont réunis pour que l'on se réjouisse de l'annonce de son premier disque attendu pour le 15/06. Presque tous en fait.

Parce que voilà, il y a une ombre au tableau. Et cette ombre, elle s'appelle Ninja Tune: l'écurie est connue pour sa tendance à vampiriser ses personnalités les plus prometteuses - le dernier disque en date de Machinedrum résume bien le propos, et elle a visiblement fait du bon boulot pour détourner l'Anglais de sa house pleine de fraîcheur et l'emmener vers des horizons instrumentaux néo-classiques un peu pédants.

Si le reste de Nothing Is Still est dans cette veine downtempo un peu chiante à la Bonobo que "Enveloppes" semble annoncer, il y a fort à parier que l'on préférera s'en aller l'écouter passer des disques à la Concrete ou au Fuse. Et ce serait bien dommage vu le potentiel du bonhomme à produire une musique accessible et bien produite.
