Today's Ecoregion:
Valdivian Temperate Forests (NT0404)
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10/10, A+, 100%
If you're a fan of the cold and Nothofagus trees like I am, then this is the ecoregion for you!
I imagine this is what Antarctica looked like before it froze over.
Bonus points for Monito del Montes, which are actually more closely related to the Australian marsupials than the American ones which is really cool.
Nothofagus - Huilo Huilo
#2348 - Nothofagus cliffortioides - Mountain Beech
AKA Fagus cliffortioides, Fuscospora cliffortioides and in Māori tawhai rauriki.
A species of Southern Beech endemic to New Zealand, widespread in mountainous areas at high elevations, but near the treeline it forms 'goblin forests' barely 2m tall. Lower on the slopes it easily reachs 20m.
Not the only Nothofagus species I saw on the trip - they're the dominant trees in most higher altitude forests.
Whakapapa Village, North Island Volcanic Plateau, New Zealand

Fagus, Tanglefoot, Deciduous Beech (Nothofagus gunnii, (Hook.f.) Oerst) is a tree of many names, but an identifying feature that supersedes them all – it’s Australia’s only cold-weather deciduous species.
Endemic to Tasmania’s alpine country, they are found in just a few small pockets of the island. Every year, tourists come from the world over to experience “the change,” turning from heritage green to flaming oranges for around a week.

.... Because I need to follow meh art, with better art, a compilation of landscapes from 2020. Aka, not retro: “Green jungle”, “The mysterious shack” (concept art for a future monkey comic of mine), “young explorer”, “Autumn day”
Landdscape compilation, featuring a wee tiny baby Awka!
Not much to add as I gotta leave soon, but I really like all these ^^
