Is it wrong that I want to write something for Hal/Tighten where he gets his powers back? The problem is everything he did in the movie. Everyone hates this character.
I mean, they seem to feed into that idea in the video games? Which barely count as canon, but... I mean, any idea is perfectly fine imo, even if it's for a character people mostly dislike. There's nothing wrong with exploring ideas and writing stuff out?
I guess if you're concerned, pick an end goal for the situation and then build off of that. Is Hal/Tighten out of lots of therapy and redeemable? He -did- try to off Megamind and Roxanne multiple times, so if you're going the redemption route the technicalities of that sort of thought process need to be heavily addressed if you want it to be believable? If you're going the "nah, still villain, but back again" route then I guess is the point for him to win? Or to challenge Megamind again? Maybe even Metro Man if he gets outed ;D Or cause havoc in another city with a different hero? (crossovers?) There are a lot of neat ways you can go with this.
If you're worried about purity policing in the Megamind fandom it's not really going to happen, we're pretty content starved and love fresh ideas and are really chill XD; Personally I'm just happy people are still creating stuff to share with the fandom! So go for it, play out your ideas and see if they work :D
Also Hal/Tighten is actually a really good character and a legitimately scary villain, almost Too Real but in a good way? Most AFAB folks have met a Hal at LEAST once in their life, if not multiple times. A lot of the satisfaction of the movie is that he gets his eventually. Is someone going to defuse him again? Will Roxanne get a chance to do it this time? A lot of fun options here! I say do it~
