'To live from one word to the next'
The idea is to provide enough tension to create the moment. For the reader to live from one word to the next. In crescendos and decrescendos. Think rhythm, melody and harmony. Musicality is a typographic designer's signature. With space, one conducts an orchestra of visual elements.
In a profound and fascinating blog post at his cool site Notsirk, the Trini designer Kriston Chen talks about the process of doing the layout for my poem 'The Tourist', with particular emphasis on the language and art of typography. READ Kriston's amazing post here. It's worth your while.
