I’m like a Guitarist (I need to be Rocked to sleep) || Matt & Wade
Wade was tired, he’d been through a lot the last few days, between: the fight he had with Matt, (if you could call it that though he certainly had no idea what to say about it.) Sara, (oh boy had going to Sara taken energy, pain, and the cold stillness that came with pulling a trigger and only feeling the recoil.) And, of course, there came the night terrors that were part nightmare and what, Wade tried not to suspect, were memories. So yes, Wade was exhausted, the sort of bone deep tired that came with a lack of solid sleep without waking up screaming, his eyes ached, he felt sluggish and his mind was less the white noise it usually felt like, but more the buzz of hundreds of flies.
So Wade did the one thing he could think to, he packed for an over night stay (just the esteemed teddy, Bearbert Landon Tate, the Third) and went to a Duane Reed. Where he purchased a gift that also served as an apology and made his way to Hell’s Kitchen, he was so tired he almost broke up a knife fight by walking into it (he broke someone’s wrist instead.) He then made his way to a place he knew could probably, maybe, hopefully help him catch some shut eye. When the door opened, Wade tapped the hard back cover of the dictionary he’d brought with him and smiled a little bit, even knowing Matt probably wouldn’t notice.
“So uh...I got you a dictionary in braille? Wait, that’s backwards, I’m tired.” (he’s whining.) “Well, I, remember I told you I went on a save the princess from the seven headed dragon, adventure? Well, the princess is saved but...”Wade couldn’t think of a metaphor for debilitating nightmares that made you scream yourself awake, he tried to remember how Bea Arthur had gotten out of this predicament in Golden Girls. “Um. I’ve only slept six hours in the past three days. and I normally wouldn’t ask but I...feel safe here?” That wasn’t a question. He doesn’t know why it got phrased that way. “I brought you the dictionary to make up for me asking....and because I might wake you up by screaming.”
