🖤 𝕸𝖊𝖊𝖙 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖒𝖆𝖐𝖊𝖗 🖤 Hello everyone, I'm Lauren - the person behind Lunar & Lux. Since starting this small business three years ago while I was on maternity leave (I gave birth to a small person named Lux who is now a crazy, high energy toddler 🤯) and it has been quite the trip. ✦ I've had a facination with oddities, folklore, the moon, the occult and anything weird and wonderful since I was old enough to remember... For instance there's a photo of me at 8 years old reading a copy of James Herbert 'The Rats' whilst on holiday in portugal 😂 ✦ I live in Nottingham, UK but was born and raised in South London. I travelled as much as I could in my twenties and ended up living in three continents including stints in Australia and the USA. ✦ One thing that makes my skin crawl is velvet. I can't go near it and it actually makes me feel sick 🤮 it makes me feel like I'm chewing cotton wool to even think about it, eeee 😷 ✦ Apart from that.. I drink too much coffee, I'm a night owl, I collect books that I don't get around to reading much, I'm terrified of sharks (to the point where I WILL get out of a swimming pool) and my favourite film is The Goonies 🤗 ✦ Running Lunar & Lux single handedly is hard work but the best 'job' I've ever had and the way I'm able to express my creativity (and weirdness) through the products is cathartic to say the least. #meetthemaker Day 3 ⏳Time⏳ ✦ It's interesting the reaction you get when you tell people you have your own business.. I'M sure a lot of people think you sit around all day eating ice cream and catching up on Homeland but it can't be any further from the truth. Before starting Lunar & Lux I worked for one of the biggest cosmetic companies in the UK (AND GLOBALLY). I managed a team of people and had a regimented 9-5 job which ticked over like clockwork... ✦ Working from home with a toddler is a bit like herding frogs .. It's almost impossible 🐸🐸🐸 90% of my *present* day consists of chasing after a toddler who's run off with some kind of ingredient, covered in wax and looking like murzel gummage in sweatpants... I'm definitely nowhere near as glamourous as I once was 🤣 The other 10% is frantically trying to complete as much of my to do list as possible in the hour window I have whilst Lux sleeps. ✦ Working from home can be a lonely old game. Sometimes I don't speak to ANY other human (or adult) all day, especially if my boyfriend is working away. Sometimes the highlight of my day is seeing the post office ladies when I drop off orders or speaking to someone at the local co-op. I work around the clock from the minute I look at my phone in the morning until the final message notification before I go to bed, 7 days a week. Working from home typically means you're always on call. The bigger my brand grows the harder it's getting and I'm still finding my feet with work/home/motherhood/some kind of social life balance but I WILL get there.
