It’s not an easy feat, rewiring your brain. I default to an emotional reaction to nearly everything that happens, but I’m conscious of that. That means in addition to reacting and feeling whatever it is, I realize simultaneously that I could have handled it differently. Differently- meaning better. More mature, loving, respectful... more words and actions that are new to my lexicon. It’s both good and bad to be able to feel so strongly and with intensity about many things. There was a span of time I felt no joy, but neither did I feel despair. A hollow, numb, go-through-the-motions type of life is what I experienced. And I didn’t like it. But I don’t like feeling this intensely either, sometimes. Practice, practice, practice. Journal. Use it in my writing. Use it to focus. Analyze. Learn. I am exhausted already. And I believe I might also be a little stronger. We gotta take it an hour at a time sometimes, people. And that’s okay. But I swear to god if one of y’all tells me to go vote I will lose my shit #notvoting #hashtags #leaf #naturephotography #thoughts https://www.instagram.com/p/BpvktOPgcaI/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=qb6yzakqhinq
I mean really...would you? #nope #growtheheckup #notvoting
I'm a Christian. I don't HAVE to vote.
For those Christians who believe you MUST vote for one of the candidates for president in November's election: No. You don't. A vote for a candidate is exactly that — a statement of support for a person you believe deserves your support. There is NO candidate currently eligible on the ballot that deserves my support, so they will not get it. They are either appalling in their personal character, reprehensible for the actions they support, or both. I do not accept the tortured logic and Scripture-twisting that some have done to campaign for their presidential choice...or against their presidential enemy. Yes, perhaps that has also been true in past elections. Perhaps we just hear more and read more and know more that we didn't know before. That doesn't change my responsibilities today. One issue that many are struggling with is this: isn't it my DUTY to vote? Or, don't I just need to go with the lesser of two evils? Nope. It's our duty to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God. It's our duty to pray for those that lead us, even if they do not serve Jesus as Lord. Our opportunity to support a candidate was in the primary election. Unfortunately, what we have left leaves me with no viable option. Hopefully in four years we will make better choices on Primary Day.
The state is the greatest threat to freedom and the largest organized body of crime. Statists argue that continuance of the state is necessary to prevent societal chaos; but the absence of state go…
Further, the state commits theft via the IRS; murder via endless wars and drone strikes overseas, which destroy countless innocent lives; kidnapping via the military draft; extortion through redistributing wealth; willful destruction of property by regulating business, imposing limits on personal property, and punishing people for simply possessing natural substances; etc. etc. Bottom line: government is the ultimate institution of organized crime that brainwashes the populace into thinking its coercive methods of violating rights and committing crime---are somehow 'legitimate' or necessary.
