For the character ask meme: Loki. (:<
and I’ll break their ass down:
How I feel about this character:Hnnnggnnn. Fiercely protective. My precious baby. I tend to fall for characters that I have something in common with, and with Loki I share not only a troubled family history and some self-worth / mental issues as a result of family shit, but also a mischieveous sense of humor and general weirdness. Also, I think that villains are more interesting than heroes, especially when they aren’t black-and-white villains that are evil for evil’s sake, but have an actual reason for what they do. And heck, Loki had some pretty cruel shit done to him and was basically driven into being a “villain”, so there’s also a bit of pity mixed into my feelings for him, as well as admiration for Hiddleston’s acting. Not to mention that he’s also eye candy.
All the people I ship romantically with this character:Thor, for one, although what’s weird is that I don’t even find Thor that physically attractive myself (and I usually only ship people that I find attractive), plus I don’t think he’s the best of partners for Loki, because sometimes Thor is just so….idk, careless / ignorant when it comes to Loki’s emotions. He doesn’t always completely understand his brother and therefore tends to hurt Loki a lot, which isn’t gonna help. It’s not the perfect brother-love as, for instance, between Fíli and Kíli. Still I ship them, because well, there’s always potential for Thor to learn ^^
Also, I have a wee bit of a thing for Loki and the Grandmaster, although I like to picture that relationship as less based on fear and dependency but growing out of actual mutual understanding, respect, and love.
And I don’t care much for the other Avengers, but I have read my fair share of Loki/Tony and Loki/Steve fics, and…well, maybe Loki/Bucky is kinda cute, too….
My non-romantic OTP for this character:Also Steve and Tony, haha.
You know, I don’t really like Captain America as a character, but Steve is kind of nice…understanding and gentle and probably the first one willing to give Loki a second chance after his fuck-up. They’d make great friends, and Loki could actually learn something from him.
And Loki and Stark…wow, they’d be such a dream team of snark and sass, LOL.
My unpopular opinion about this character:I don’t know if it’s an unpopular opinion. I just think that he and Thor are often being measured with two different standards for the same actions. Like, Thor has always been a warrior and has killed hundreds, probably thousands without wasting a thought; but Loki is regarded as this mass murderer for his actions in New York, which probably weren’t even his own. Loki is certainly not an innocent angel, but neither is Thor, although fandom tends to paint them like that.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:That he didn’t die :-( That’s basically all I wish for after IW.If I had more than one wish….That they’d explored his heritage a bit more (I am actually convinced that Frigga is his actual mother and that Loki is the result of a little dalliance with Laufey when Frigga was on a skiing holiday to Jotunheim). That he hadn’t been treated like a clown in Ragnarok and was actually allowed a plot that made sense and wasn’t all set to make him look ridiculous.
That we got to see a bit more of his magical side (sorcerer supreme…). And more mischief! As it is, Loki is probably the most serious character in all of the Thor films, LOL.
I should probably stop at this point….thanks for asking :-D
