hanitjemars reblogged this from elschaaf and added: Damn, this is a very well researched fic. I am ashamed that I’m usually too lazy to do all that. I mean, I made up things as I write LMAO

Nooo, ghostcat, say it ain't so! :) Damn. I was kind of afraid of that.
Hello! New follower and it's all because of VMars. I watched season one back in the day and fell in love but kids and the sleep exhaustion and laundry that came with it kind of made me a flaky fan at best for S 2 & 3. Rediscovered the joy of it in the last year and found the movie to be about as close to perfect as I dared to hope. Thought I'd follow a few blogs to bask in the pics, gifs and meta. Nice to meet you!
Hi nova802! Totally understand about the sleep exhaustion and the laundry. I was trying to explain to a friend that sleeplessness without children is this contained, manageable thing. The next day, you drink your coffee and you shrug it off with an “I’m an idiot” and ya move on. Sleeplessness with kids is just this horrible repetitive nightmare, a black hole in the earth with no end in sight. FUN!
Welcome back to the intense feelings club of the Veronica Mars tumblr fandom! There are books a’comin’ and hopefully more after that.

I know it's early days but I can't help wondering if Daryl facing Merle down and heading back to the prison and Merle giving in and following him is a turning point in their relationship. Thoughts?
I think you are definitely right in that assumption. But a turning point to what? That is the question.
Merle’s decision to go back to the prison was one that spoke quite strongly about his feelings towards Daryl. Because lets face it, Merle is not a nice guy. He has some good qualities but he generally chooses to walk the road that gives him the most rewards with the less work. However you spin it, Merle, at least up until now, has always taken care of Merle first. Baby brother has always ranked high, but Merle has shown before that he takes care of number one before he takes care of anything else.
Merle, like Daryl, doesn’t really need the prison or the people there. At least not in a physical sense. They can get along just fine on their own. They were practically born and raised in the woods and they know how to take care of themselves. Merle again, has proved this. He survived on his own for quite some time before crossing paths with the Governor - and that was minus a hand and a messy self amputation. Not to mention he probably went through some serious drug with-drawls as well. Either way, the point is, he doesn’t need to go back to the prison to survive.
And yet, here we are.
Merle went back to the prison for Daryl. Perhaps the first time in their relationship that he has ever tried something not just Daryl’s way, but for his baby brother as well.
Think about it? Merle said it himself. He has every reason in the world not to go back to that prison. In fact, his life expectancy would be far higher if he didn’t. He beat the unholy shit out of Glenn, had a hand in Maggie’s sexual assault by the Governor, hunted and shot Michonne, and wants to gank Rick probably in the most slow and painful ways known to man (and as far as Rick is concerned the feeling is probably mutual). And to top it all off, the Governor is a few cans short of a six pack and is on a murderous rampage that is probably going to last more than one or two assaults. After all, there is a reason why Woodsbury is basically the zombie apocalypse version of a 5 star resort. They have the manpower and the resources to back it up. And Merle knows not know what the Governor and his forces are capable of, but how far the Governor will go to get what he wants.
I thought Merle’s decision to accompany Daryl back to the prison was probably one of the first things he has ever really done for Daryl. And considering the world they now living in - that’s saying something.
I am interested to see how this arc is going to go throughout the next few episodes. And knowing Merle it is probably going to be a wild ride!
Are you at all concerned at the rate that TPTB of the Walking Dead seem to be burning through their main cast? If this show goes on for several more seasons (as seems likely given the ratings) will there be anyone left to root for? I'm torn because I get that this is a truly grim world but I care about Carol and Beth and Hershel and Daryl and EVERYONE and as much as I like the show, I can't help wondering if there's a limit to my ability to transfer my affections to new characters. Thoughts?
This is an interesting question, and when Tyreese and his group showed up in the last episode I found myself asking that same question. We have spent the last few seasons with a core group of characters and now we have both lost and gained a number of them.
Personally, I think they aren't going to kill off too many more of the original cast for a while. Characters like Daryl, Rick, Glenn, Carol, Andrea and Carl. It hurts to think there is so few of them left. But I think it is by virtue of that fact that they will be safe. At least for a little while. The fates of Maggie, Beth, and Hershel however, I would argue are less certain.
I think we are going to see Tyreese and some of his group incorporate into Rick's and a few characters are probably going to die before the season is through. Likely a few from his group and a one or two from Rick's. Maybe Axel?
I feel your pain in that regard. We have come to love our group, and have had our feels torn out repeatedly because of it. Most recently when T-dog and Lori died earlier this season. And just when we were beginning to care about Oscar, bam dead. It is hard to love a new character when one of your favorites just got wacked to make room for their arrival. But then again, when they came to the farm I wasn't too warm about the new characters, such as Maggie. And now I both like her and see her Beth and Hershel as as part of the group as T-dog and Lori despite not being there in the beginning.
I supposed this is part of the reason why I watch each episode half hiding under a blanket of my own cries, nervousness, and feels.
nova802 replied to your post: I am very interested to see what happens with...
Yes, that “You need me” was fascinating, especially since it seems like that is as close as she’s able to come to asking for an in. Going forward, I wonder if there will be friction between Michonne and Daryl b/c she didn’t warn him about Merle.
Indeed. Michonne is very much like an enigma wrapped up in a hurricane - powered by the heat of a thousand suns, and twice as mysterious. It is going to be fascinating to see how all that plays out.
nova802 answered your question: I have been seeing a lot of this since Sunday, and I really have to say...
Additionally, every minute they managed to DELAY Merle and the Governor means another minute for Rick& Co to mount a rescue or prepare.
Exactly. I honestly believe that Maggie made the right call not just morally but logically. Glenn was going to die if she didn't, the fate of the others is less certain if she tells. It made perfect sense to me considering the circumstances.
