Sangheili Saturday — Saepon'kal

Saepon'kal, or Joyous Exultation, was a Sangheili colony that acted as a hub of war science before High Charity's completion. The home of Avu Med 'Telcam and Inslaan 'Gadogai, the world was razed by the detonation of a NOVA bomb in November 2552.

RVB REC DAY

So these are my RVB fic recs. I’m not gonna include the tags for ships and characters in it, just my summary/screaming about it and the AO3 link. All fics are completed because I don’t read uncompleted because I am a bad luck charm for them (I start reading them and then the author might write another chapter and then abandon the work/run out of muse/etc.) There will be vague spoilers about some of the fics, so be warned.

Flicker - RiaTheDreamer (http://archiveofourown.org/works/9427547) - This is one of those fics that is my worst nightmare - Season 8 ends differently for some characters. There aren’t words to adequately describe this fic and what it does to me. It falls in the category previously reserved only for the movies Sucker Punch and Sweeney Todd - I love it so much and it’s beautiful, but i can’t read it ever again because of how much it emotionally hurt me (note: that is like the highest level of complement, especially since i have read it 4 times) this fic does one of my favorite things in writing, which is writing around the issue, while heavily foreshadowing the unhappy ending. And it is beautifully done.

Fire and Ice - ChurbooseAnon (http://archiveofourown.org/works/3267437) - This is another angsty one, this time with York and Delta. To me, it felt very in-character with both of them and brought me to tears. It it written really well and flows almost like it’s a poem, but it’s not. Its fairly short, so I don’t wanna say a lot and give away the ending.

Seen This Ground Before  - QueSeraAwesome (http://archiveofourown.org/works/1588691/chapters/3376217)  - This is actually a multichapter one. Its one of my favorites because it is mostly about Wash, Sarge, and Donut when they were captured by Feds, instead of Tucker, Caboose, Grif and Simmons dealing with them being captured. It is UA because they are actually “captured” as opposed to what happened in the show. There are other fics like this I’m sure, but a lot of the ones I’ve seen still focus on how the ones with the New Republic are dealing with it and not how they (Wash, Sarge,Donut) survive the capture. It’s a great read and to me very in character. And it develops Donut really well and shows camaraderie between those captured. 

Asphodel Meadows - Hinn_Raven (http://archiveofourown.org/works/6076194/chapters/13926588)  - Finally something not angst. This is one set in the Chorus Trilogy arc, with the added bonus of Tex being there due to some weird time travel bs courtesy of Wyoming’s armor enhancement. It has Tex kicking Felix’s ass, and a friendship between Tex and Tucker. Another thing that is great about it is it addresses the issues between Tex and Carolina and Tex and Epsilon without making the entire story about them, devaluing Tex’s relationship with other people, or just glossing over the situation. 

Deconstruction - Nova_Bomb (http://archiveofourown.org/works/7889806/chapters/18021619 ) - This is a great one set after the end of season 13. A lot of fics with that qualification tend to fall in one of two categories: Everybody/almost everybody died and the sole survivor has to deal with that or everybody lives and everything is good forever. This fic falls in the middle, because while everybody survives, things aren’t all good. Epsilon fragmented in Tucker’s head, and this fic deals with the consequences of that really well. Its all around a good fic, and i really like that it is a season 13 continuation that didn’t kill everyone. I’m a big fan of my faves not dying. 

So these are my RVB fic recs for Feburary. These are by no means my only faves, but mostly they are what I have read most recently and had time to write something about since i decided to participate last night. Maybe next month I will have more/better written recs and some art. Hell, maybe someday I will be on someone’s fic rec list (not likely but it could happen)

As A Profesional Warlock, I can indeed agree, Nova Bombs are very, very, VEEEEERY... Safe, I mean, you could put them in your mouth and be just fine.
