“I was some time ago. Worked my way up, not that you’d really care.. but I own a few packaging facilities. Biggest fish distribution operation in the West. “You girls have a point but if there’s one thing I know about my old man is he’s always right where he needs to be and he’s fucking here. He just wants us to come to him because he’s a controlling piece of a shit like that. Trust me, that’s basically how my whole damn childhood went.”
“It’s just weird that he’d summon you out of nowhere. I don’t think you’ve mentioned him hardly at all since we’ve been together. My dad and I were practically inseparable so it makes me sad how little you want to talk about either of your parents.”
“Well as I told you in the car, there’s good reason for that. My mother left when my parents seperated and I only saw her once in a while before she died and my dad.. well he was there in his own way I guess. Probably explains why I feel like I fucking owe him something. C’mon Little Love, please stay with us.”
It’s funny how even then, as small as I was, I could feel a sense of wrong. Maybe it was my empathy for you. Maybe I understood better than I knew. We didn’t belong. Not there anyway.
