I'll never forget when I submitted part of her story for one of my creative writing classes and one of my classmates was so appalled to find out that she's a girl (story is first person POV) because thanks to her name they assumed she was a boy. I was like. Why does this matter so much to you.

They left me a critical mark about reader expectations. I changed absolutely nothing.
