Behold, a WEILAN fic!
Sitting in the armchair by the window, he turned the page of the book, paying attention to the notes that the previous owner had made on the edges. It was curious to him how one could get to know a person just by reading what they chose to highlight and comment on in the text of a work. Shen Wei had several books that had once belonged to that same person. It was like an intimate friend he had never met. Maybe that person was already dead, but that thought didn't make Shen Wei sad or happy. It was just the fortune of being human. Shen Wei didn't know if that fortune now also belonged to him. After all, part of him was human too.
A rare occurrence in this department. Even rarer than Shen Wei's poetry books.

One day, the younger twin had been afraid that his brother had left for good, but it had only been a brief departure - from that day onwards they could probably count on the tips of their fingers how many times they had actually been apart for anything.
Shen Wei sighed at the lack of space, but he didn’t push the other away. He continued to focus on his cooking, leaving his brother to his goal of coffee. It was actually quite easy for him to move naturally around the other. Countless lifetimes spent together in so many ways made it second nature. Their dinner wasn’t in any danger just because Mianmian was being a menace. Sometimes the other misbehaved just to annoy Shen Wei, other times he knew it was deeper than that. Not a test but seeking reassurance. That Shen Wei was there. That he wasn’t going anywhere. Because deep down, Mianmian was still that little ghost king tugging on his brother’s robes with bloody hands.
@tazzy-ace and I are back with the first Shen Wei/Gui Mian (properly tagged) fanfic in English. Fully novel-verse, thank you very much :D
You know what would be nice? If the 4th SR novel ever considered updating. But obviously, the once a month thing is a lie. At this rate, once a year would be a lie, because I don’t even remember the last time it updated. But I, who still wanted to know what happens when Aqune saves Buguese, got sick of waiting and wrote the scene myself. Pretty sure the actual thing wouldn’t have been as good as my delusions anyway. (And yeah, I tried to balance Aqune’s personality with how it was in the original novels, because I liked it better before the retcon.)
Isn’t it normally the prince who awakens the sleeping princess? This is what Aqune muses to herself. But maybe it works differently when both are looked-at as villains, and neither are royalty in the first place.
She watches as the cocoon which imprisoned Buguese for so long unravels. Finally, this could be done thanks to Portia’s help.
Slowly, he opens his eyes. And there before him is the handmaiden he long missed.
“Aqune…” he speaks. He wants to say more, to ask questions, but he isn’t sure where to even begin.
“Buguese… at last you’re awake.” Aqune is a hardened warrior. She isn’t the sentimental type. But if anyone could see her now, they wouldn’t guess that. Tears are pouring from her eyes. They just started all of a sudden, and won’t stop. She puts her arms around him, leans her head against his chest.
She must have rescued him. This is what Buguese realizes. Why would anyone come for him? He is cold, heartless. But she was always there, always loyal to him. Is it because the two are alike? Two cruel individuals who love nothing more than their ambitions can come to love each other? He doesn’t feel like thinking, but the reasons don’t matter. All that matters is that she did come after all.
“For so long, Aqune, I could do nothing but dream. But I dreamed of seeing you again,” said Buguese. “All the time.”
“This time, let’s not be apart,” answers Aqune. She looks up at him now. “I hate to admit it, but I need you.”
Buguese leans down, and kisses her lips. It was the first time he had done so. It will not be the last.
Okay, it's the first of the month. Spider Riders chapter 11 where? Also, I noticed the site never actually linked to chapter 10 last month, although it's there. Hmm...
Not that I'm really interested in novel-verse for anything other than the Buguese/Aqune scenes, and there will probably be none this month.
Just have to say... why is Buguese/Aqune so blatant in novel-verse? Eeeeeh! Probably just being my delusional self, but I would love it if it became canon there, considering the anime's cop-out end with no canon pairings.
