NAME: Serpaisas of Amnran RELATED MUSE: Lorgar Aurelian ROLE: Remembrancer ; Disciple ; One of like 12 'favorite people' ; True Believer

An OC that got wildly out of hand, Serpaisas was a background character in several drabbles I wrote that soon came to be an active player in certain events. First a baseline sole survivor of tragedy, she saw the arrival of the Emperor's 'angels' as an active miracle, a sign. In the early days, she wasn't worshiping the Master -- she was worshiping his Son. After a chance to rebuild her life and obtain work as a Documentarist, she returned to the Legion to whom she owed much, and began reporting on their works as propaganda for the great war machine. Had a wildly successful career over a questionably elongated lifespan, until her untimely demise in the downfall of a certain city. Yet she haunts the narrative -- some say literally, some say that what the light scours the shadows race to embrace, with the wordsmith being no different.

My Lorgar is fascinated by the Empire having roles for academics and creatives considering he's only ever seen the war end of it. He's also blindsided by the idea of anyone's writing being subject to edit and revision by outside forces like Administration. Regardless, he likes what she does and encourages her talent. Her skill with words is enough that, for at least one Compliance campaign, he and his sons were heroes to the Imperium, dashing, gallant, wise liberators who faced Xenos head-on and aided people on every level. Regrettably, her works and even her identity were erased on a mass scale after the Heresy, and with it most of his works and the brief shining moment of good PR he had. She made people like him, appreciate him. That was all she ever needed to do for him to put her on that pedestal with others he thought he cared for.

If Lorgar is a walking Dune reference, Serpaisas is his 1rulan reference. If Lorgar thought he was gonna be space Jesus, here was his Mary Magdalene. She's the zeal of the convert manifest, his voice to the people, his devotee. And the 'verse is going to continue to make her pay for that well into the current leg of narrative. She doesn't get off easy by death. No one he cared for ever did.

Will readily nerd-fight Pupper's Magnus via official contact channels. She won't win, but baseline has hands as far as sources and references. Quoted on discord with a big 'Why does God need propaganda?' because the themes of the narrative are lost on her as an active character within it. Also on record getting a blowout nosebleed from (incidental) psychic proximity to the Emperor that does not help her kool-aid drinking that he's God. Even before Chaos started gnawing on her she's going through it.

NAME: Maria RELATED MUSE: Belloza Toscano ROLE: Lady's maid ; Cool Big Sis ; Last braincell standing ; Hungarian sexualizer

The woman, the myth, the legend, and Belloza's constant companion since her arrival in P0rtoscuro. She ties into Bella's lore overtly as the maid who escaped the keep incognito pretending to be Bella, while Bella remained pretending to be the maid. It was Maria who bore the letter to the Duke's brother after a breakneck, sleepless ride for the man in question, and Maria who returned without fear to the blighted keep in order to attend to her lady and help her heal. She is also the one left waiting for Bella to return after her disappearance at the dawn of the 15th century.

Five years Bella's elder, the pair arrived at the keep on the same day under very different circumstances. Maria's father, a former guardsman to the Duke who was released from service after a career-ending injury, brought his nine-year-old to the keep to make her fortune. Whilst running errands around the main building, it dawned on her a very small child was just stood around waiting for something. The younger girl explained she was lost, Maria endeavored to help her find her uncle, and accidentally solved the day's mystery of where the Duke's newly arrived niece had skulked off to before being formally handed over to new custody. Maria was supposed to be dismissed, but the poorly socialized and nowhere near properly stimulated four-year-old clung to Maria an screamed her head off every time the older girl made to leave. Her role in the keep was secured from there on.

Sensible, cheerful, and preferring the simple life, Maria is a far cry from her stoic mistress. Still, she does dote on Bella, and it's well understood that the pair are less lady and maid as much as emotional support adult and her neurotic teenager pre-Occupation. Maria is easy to like and damn near impossible to ignore, diligent and with a mood like pure sunshine. She's still a little weird from Bella proximity, though. Ask her about her spider collection.

Sexualizes that Hungarian. Keeps taking herself to confession because she catches sight of him in the training yard. Going absolutely 14th century Catholic girl crazy over that knight. Canonically if Bella had ridden for her father's lands and left Maria to hold down the literal fort, Maria would have tried to have Beauty and the Beast'd Ferret's Tarh0s. It wouldn't have worked, but there would have been less mindgames as he feared she was a simpleton left to fend for herself by the uncaring nobility.

In good AU, me and Ferret actually have her endgame with Sander (Sanderia), which is adorable minion-shipping that drives Bella and Tarh0s out of their heads bc suddenly on ye olde date nights they have to do shit themselves. They end up with three kids and have bound the 'protags' closer together via godparent duties over the eldest. Maria generally made it in life.

KARIN LINDHOLM //  20s // HYPERCOMPETENT SECRETARY, FULL-TIME FRIEND.

A local girl who answered the help wanted ad for a secretarial position on the office side of the island, Karin showed up fresh out of college and eager to start paying off student loans. Mr. Molloy was friendly and approachable without being unprofessional, and she’d admit during the job interview she was ready to work for him wholesale. For his part, he admired her work ethic and glowing record and hired her nearly on the spot. Karin had no way of knowing it at the time, but the job interview with a vampire was the prelude to the worst time of her life.

Had a ‘minor’ breakdown by the standards of a mortal existing around Vampires in her second year of working for Daniel, exacerbated by oddities she witnessed and had written off by her boss’ mate. This coupled with a generally upended schedule to best serve the bloodsuckers who employed her gave her a relatively short span to go completely around the bend. Disappeared for a year to Europe doing what those who uncover the truth usually do -- Was eventually steered right after an involuntary hold in Germany and being returned to the States. 

She made her way back to the Island to try and bury the hatchet, though whether that was going to be in a certain devil’s back or purely metaphorical was up in the air up to the point she boarded the elevator. Ended up getting her old position back with the caveat of her boss being a little more open about the goings on of the place. She also gets allotted mental health days she can call upon to freshen up when the realities of the island become a bit much for her mortal psyche.

At some point became aware of her employer’s nature and, since her life is already God damn weird enough, took it with as much grace as she could muster. Has become a devoted student of the fact and lore of his kind in order to serve him better, and stands as a woman who can hold her own against the hoards of the night. A veritable encyclopedia of Vampire knowledge. Often stands as either early warning system or the wall between those of his kind who wish to see Daniel and the writer in question. She rules her little atrium with an iron fist even against the undead.

Daniel’s actually pretty indebted to her in ensuring that things run smoothly professionally, and admits he’d have lost it already without her there to make the transition into modern technology and media easier. He’s exceedingly fond of her and tries to cut her a break whenever he is able. He’s pretty much the only member of the Coven who is wholesale nice to her, because the rest either ignore her or, like a certain ginger, like to toy with her.

Outside of this aspect as Nominal Vampire Chew Toy, she is pretty feared on other circles of the Island. If she ever has to come down or place a call and comment on something, it’s because this is a fuck up too minor to bring the bosses down -- but still needs dealing with. She’s almost mythic for her place within the ‘inner circle’ of upper management, and being the gatekeeper between the owners and anyone who wants to come calling. It makes fraternization really difficult, in fact.

Actually her entire personal life has kind of gone belly up ever since the job started taking a toll on her. At this point she’s so desperate for connection she’s started crushing on her boss’ husband who routinely subjects her to indignities just because he can’t be asked to do something himself.

If you take her outside of work, she’s not nearly the almighty professional. A sweetheart who does her best in every facet of her life, she’s got big dreams and hopes to write the next great American novel. In spite of her struggles, she remains optimistic towards her future and the networking opportunities that working for Daniel presents. He’s already taken her around the world a few times by the modern era, having her act as his agent in the daylight hours for international business.
