Re-watching Mulholland Drive. Yeah, I stand by the theory that Camilla wasn't really *that* cruel to Diane at the party and a lot of it was just in Diane's head.
Camilla, I mean, she probably wasn't that nice a person but it's hard to imagine her being so deliberately sadistic.
IMO, she truly did think her and Diane could be amicable exes and inviting her to the party was a peace offering of sorts. ("Hey come along to this fancy Hollywood party, maybe you'll meet someone/land an audition, etc!")
She just under estimated how unhinged Diane had become.
I bet Melissa George's character just went over to the table and *whispered* something in Camilla's ear. But Diane imagined it as a kiss and Camilla taunting her and rubbing her nose in it.
Makes the whole thing a bit more tragic. Camilla was trying to help Diane, after all. It just massively backfired.
