I am starting a mini series just to exercise my range in drawing various ages. I have never really been good at drawing older folks (especially men), but I have headcannons about the employees of Joey Drew Studios in terms of appearance. Mixed with extensive research on the 1930's fashions, as well as personal references, these are my first results. Sammy Lawrence is the least realistic "looking," (he was the first portrait I did to warm up) but my headcannon was that he was a disgruntled, older man (50-65) with a "skinny", frail frame. His look was more inspired by Mr. Burns from The Simpsons. Susie Campbell, how I see her, has a Betty Boop-like appearance, short and cute, but without the sex appeal. She weighs a tad more than the average woman, but she still has a complimentary body shape. This overall makes her look younger than she actually is, and while that might seem like a good thing, she wants to surpass the cute vibe and become beautiful. The reason behind this is because she envies Allison Pendle for her "natural" beauty. This attraction to beauty attached Susie to Alice Angel, as she was a beautiful character, alongside the natural connection Susie had to her. Susie's look was also inspired by Jean Harlow and Muriel Evans. Allison Pendle is the more mature and beautiful voice actress, but she is quite humble. To me, if Allison was to be envied by Susie, I had to make sure there was a good reason. Other than her talent as an actress, she had to set the standard to make Susie want to be beautiful. Allison is tall and slender. Her look is inspired by Katharine Hepburn, as well as her appearance in Bendy chapter 4. Her bangs in the game were symmetrical, so I needed to give her a symmetrical hairstyle for her fringe. Wally Franks was something of a comedic relief role, I thought. I knew he had to have a "funny" type of look. I thought of the tall and lanky, not-too-smart cop from the Andy Griffith Show and went from there. The finished look is an almost identical face to Fred Astaire with exaggerated ears. Henry (Present) was a bit of a toughy. I tried to make his look similar to that of the 1960's with not too much luck. I knew he would have been to the only one to really age. Henry, to me, is more stocky than his male counterparts, but not like a lumberjack. He has average to slightly above muscle build. He is fairly tall, but not as tall as Wally. Perhaps he and Sammy are of similar heights. Henry seemed in his 50's, which can be a hit-or-miss on appearances. I thought he'd be in better shape because of the lack of stress from his time at Joey's studio. He is loosely based on George Clooney; the rest was all up to me.
