first headcanon bump in the new year. nerd trio are all autistic(Ruth has audhd) and have a strong bond because of this. they have deathly fights over their hyperfixations, yet still watches or listens about everything their friends gets fixed on, cuz they know they have no one else to talk about it.

Pete and Richie knew each other from childhood(Ted or Paul could babysit Pete and Richie when something unusual happened), Ruth came to the company later, when Pete was doing tap dancing with her until she quit shortly after incident on first competition. At first Richie was very sceptical about this addition to the group, he fully accepted Ruth only after she listed to the Vocaloid songs and actually joined community. He first Initiativelly hugged her after she went to him to discuss Evilious chronics.

While(at least for the last few years) Ruth is being the loud one in the group, Pete and Richie are more often seen as "the quiet kids", even though in fact each of them speak to people more than Ruth. Pete and Richie don't really share same fandoms(aside from some videogames that they later started together in trio(I headcanon that nerd trio have shared hollow knight fixation and are clowns and losers in their 2021 waiting for silksong)) so they mostly talk about shared interest in natural sciences like physics(Richie's fav) or chemistry(Pete's fav) and astrology that, surprisingly, was a unit of interest for all the trio(and first ever hyperfixation for Pete).

If you look at nerd's understanding of academic units, they all are very good at math, naturally understand physics with Richie knowing way more than a normal highschooler should(this guy could go work at nuclear electrostation, but he loves anime too much to do this shit so he's planning to go to gamedev) and Ruth being slightly behind Pete, Richie tolerating chem yet understanding it, Pete ADORING it(high school led to knowledge, that Pete is the type of guy that knows and remembers exactly how each element looks) and Ruth DESPITING it yet doing it just because it pisses her off if she can't, Richie getting the needed minimum to pass with A in history, Pete knowing a bit more and Ruth being THE history/culture/literature nerd who will tell you who, when and where have fucked up(yes, it happened because of her hadestown hyperfixation) and in language they all do good at analysis because... well... autistic. in essays Ruth feels like fish in the water, but in the theoretical part Pete is better simply because his family still speaks Polish and his PTSD carries him through English course(and Richie is also stronger than Ruth in theory mostly because he tried to learn Japanese and THAT'S scary)

and if I'm already making a post so long, Ruth and Richie share Vocaloid fandom, but Richie's in it because he likes everything Japanese and it's more like his sub fandom, and Ruth likes it cuz Vocaloid songs are mostly a little stories in vacuum with cool music and she just likes to dig into meaning, and she just doesn't give a shit about language(and can make music analysis)

it's surprisingly easy yet hard for me to publish my Ruth and Richie headcanons for a pretty stupid reason. it's that they are just so alike on a surface yet REALLY different in details. if I don't specify it really seems like I view them like most media views twins

I think Ruth is an ADHD kid in quadrant. she tries million different things and hobbies, while primary sticking to the one ultimate art of her soul(theater). this is also supported by her inability to express herself on stage, so she tries every other way possible to tell the world what person she is, even if no one will se or hear what she'll make. parallely with that she's in almost all of her friends fandoms and always ready to inspect a colossal amount of information and spend hours of her free time to know a thing her friend likes because of how much she yearns for human connection(remember star wars reference to Pete exclusively who, I remind you, made a star wars reference before his DEATH?). Richie, on the other hand, is more calm in his arty nature. he may like some form of art, but for him to try and do it he need to not just have an interest to inspect, but a passion or need to know how to do it. his circle of interests as an artist is pretty limited, but if he tries something he goes all in. he is less social person and can be on his own, so he puts less effort into knowing every single thing his friends like, yet listening if they want to talk about it because he still respects and cherishes them(of course he'll mock the hell out of them in the process). so two have crossing skills, but if Richie is Picasso then Ruth is self taught gay porn artist with Mariana Trench size gaps in knowledge

their way of speaking is also alike, but not the same. Richie lives and breathes with sarcasm, but he can think about what to say and keep things to himself. his jokes are thought about and intended. Ruth on the other hand is very familiar with sarcasm and can make people feel a rich spectrum of emotions, but almost all of it is 100% unintended. her brain works in team with her mouth and her mouth works faster than her mind so she just says the most random bullshit without a single bit. yet, in a stressful situation, because of this exact trait of hers Ruth would be completely silent or would rarely spoke - Richie would have to do all the hard work 😔

and I think they would have great Jäger-radar, also similar but different in details. Richie in my interpretation is a child of direct abuse who after such childhood got a loving patent figure in face of Paul. because of that he is good in detecting steps coming to a room and timing actions accordingly, but bad at isolating steps of exact person when there is big group of people coming. Ruth in my mind has 2 main origins. either a kinda forgotten middle child in a family of 5 who lives in one room with all her siblings or a child from fostery who in age of 12 was taken in by her two cool moms(for now I'm more on the "two cool moms" side). in both scenarios she needs(or needed) to know exactly who's coming, so she's less of "I know the possible danger from afar" but more "I know if it's really danger from a lot of given variables". again, alike but not the same

so, when we have designed it, here's my headcanon. Richie and Ruth have OCs and they make for each other OC arts as gifts
