One evening I took a walk along the beach listening to French music and sat on the swing watching the sunset which was amazing.

My favorite place, it was absolutely beautiful and full of history. It is the site of a village (1st pic) where the Acadiens (French) were expelled from by the English in 1755 - they burned down their village. This expulsion is called Le Grand Dérangement. Most of these Acadiens were sent to Louisiana where I’m from so that was really cool, especially since there were copied documents in the museum that I’ve seen the originals of at a museum back home. The statue is of Évangéline, a literary figure in a poem of the same name by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow that tells of her story during the expulsion.
Nova Scotia 2012: Port Royal
Port Royal was established by France in 1605 and was their first successful settlement in North America. It was the capital of L’Acadie until it was destroyed by the British in 1613.
Nova Scotia 2012: La plage à Mavillette
The strangest beach trip I’ve even been on. The tide was really low so it took awhile to walk to the water. Also, it was so foggy! The sand was cool because in some spots you could see the water movements.
