S T R E S S R I T U A L S 💚 How do you cope with stress? Do you have a favourite ritual that grounds you? That brings you back into your body and yourself? Is it a run, yoga, a cuppa in your favourite armchair, a mantra, some deep breathing, or hugging your favourite person (or pet)? There is no getting away from stress in our lives, so find your grounding mechanism. Mine is to take time out for myself with some yoga or a night in pampering myself with my favourite skincare products. It's NATIONAL STRESS AWARENESS DAY today, so make a promise to yourself to take some time out for you. You deserve it 💚 🌟 🌟 🌟 #nsad #sofialatifoils #calm #nationalstressawarenessday #faceoil #facemassage #faceroller #veganskincare #crueltyfree #luxeskincare #greenskincare #smallbatch #independentbeauty #healthyskin https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp3p_BWFh78/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=wlzsg8bjw8gq
Confessions of a Workaholic
There aren't enough hours in a day. I often find the circumstances of my life reminding me that there just is not enough time. Not enough time to study adequately; not enough time to pencil in leisure; not enough time to sleep; not enough time to make an appointment; and not enough time to relax. Deadlines are truly deadly and as they circle around my mental Google calendar, they put tremendous pressure on me. This is a confession, a confession of a workaholic who used to pride himself in making the most of his college experience. Whether it be taking an extra course, tackling an extra project, or picking up an extra task, the "most" was becoming excessive. The strangest part of this excess is that it--seemingly, to me--was normal. We are at college and it is unsurprising to find others forfeiting hours in bed for hours on a grade. It is not uncommon to find ourselves busy with assignments and commitments outside of our classroom. This culture fooled me into believing that stress was normal. This very culture has broken me and in the light of all this darkness, made me realize my vulnerability and limitations as a person. Don't get me wrong, stress can be good. In fact, we need to meet a threshold of stress to do well, according to the Yerkes-Doson law. What I find problematic, however, is that the culture that I was surrounded by engrained the idea that stress and lack of sleep (and often times, direction) was normal for college students. Perhaps it is normal for us, and therein lies the issue of our generation. We are stressed, we are busy, and we are rushed. We need to recognize that we can achieve brilliant things by defining our own limitations. We need to recognize being busy or stressed is not so much an Olympian race, but a vicious cycle of perpetuating the normalization of stress. When people lament the stress they are feeling, it seems to me that it is more of a cry for help. For awhile, I had difficulty coming to terms of my own limitations. I had not realized how much these past two years have haunted me and my health. I am stressed, and you are probably as well. I hope we can take this day to reflect on our busy schedules and recognize the excess that is unnecessary in our lives. Because too little or too much of any commitment can bring unwelcome mediocrity. From workaholic to workaholic, I am telling you that we both need a break.
Yo, yo this is my friend Matt and he is trying to perform at a really big national competition, so if you could watch the video and like it and reblog it, it would be very appreciated!
