“Come with me,” Yaritza ushered Sterling. “You’re gonna love it! The table is right by where the band plays.”

Sterling laughed. “You really like this place, huh?”

Her smile was sunshine bright as she answered. “My father used to take me here with my mother all the time. And when that stopped, I came here on my own.”

“Your father,” Sterling paused, as if he were treading on thin ice. “You don’t speak of your parents much.”

“Oh, they’re great. They live in a nice riverside house in downtown San Myshuno. Ever since I told them I was pregnant, actually, they’ve been trying to get me to move in there with them.”

Sterling frowned. “You told them?”

Yaritza nodded. “Of course I did. They’re my parents, soon to be grandparents.”

Sterling’s mouth formed a small open circle. “Oh.”

Deidre disappeared during Penelope’s birthday party to the bathroom with her food. She then proceeded to go into labor.
