Fleeting salty thought, unrelated to my rules update-

You know, I wonder just how much more attention/engagement Valerie would get if she was...sexual. Promiscuous. Because, that’s what really gets people looking at your muse it seems. Never mind how they actually are as a character, no, it’s just.... “sex bls? saucy things bls?” 

I can write up a lengthy headcanon or in-depth character analysis that took me hours to put together and get no notes for it, but if I post Valerie saying a sexual joke or whatever (if it would be in her character)? That joint will probs get like...10 notes or somethin. Priorities are clearly in order /s

Related to the last vent post: for me, I'm asexual (not repulsed either, just don't really care about it, and pretty much therefore my muses are too), and knowing how much interest people have for sexy stuff, and how much attention can be garnered purely from that, is really disheartening sometimes. Especially when your muse would be considered conventionally attractive, and were someone to come and want stuff because of that, only to find hey, they're not interested. It sucks :(

This really is a giant issue in this community, and I hate it. It’s not just something that impacts female characters either, since a lot of people like saying female characters in general continue to be objectified by this kind of stuff.

That IS true (the majority of the muses I write are female and I’ve personally dealt with this before - two times now with Valerie herself :)) ), but it also impacts male characters too. This isn’t just a female character-only problem unlike what some people in this comm might try to tell you, which...makes it that much more worse imo. Ain’t nobody safe from this.
