My breakdown of Not The Actual Events <3
Figured i’d keep up the same unorganized style as featured in my La Mer French breakdown :) Hopefully you guys can read it— even more so, I hope it makes sense! I was actually quite surprised to find out about that website— it seems like such a niche find, especially to draw so much inspiration from; It’s like something you’d find on a “top 10 most disturbing websites” iceberg.
I was also quite surprised to see how similar this record is to The Downward Spiral. It has practically the same story beats, except squished down and a bit messier. I suppose the main idea is different, though. Whereas TDS explores themes of using vices to get away from yourself, NTAE focuses on blaming other parts of yourself for the things you do.
