I think part of the allure of powerlines is that they stand among natural things; brush and trees and grass. But they aren’t trying to blend in. They’re just simply there. One, natural. The other, placed there by man. And because of that, they make me think of favouring something mortal instead of god as I stay here, inside, tethered to the internet, as opposed to flourishing in the sunshine. In a way, trees and powerlines are both things that try to grow and graze the sky, but one gives life in a literal and the other a figurative sense; The powerlines let me live here, the trees out there. And they both stand together, but not as one.
