Graveyard Ntoto

Graveyards in the cold of winter near midnight are fucking terrifying, and I call bullshit on you if you pretend that shit doesn’t get you. Just went and collected some much needed dirt for an nkisi I’m building, and the dead were palpably present. Like a weight, a pressure, a heavy mist. Knocking on the door to my mind with images and impressions, and hoping to follow me home. I brought a gold coin to buy my dirt from Her, and of course asked permission from the dead before crossing the line into the graveyard. Now, the cemetery at night ain’t the same as the daytime cemetery. Daytime is for the living, that’s when the dead sleep. During the day the cemetery is serene, but at night the Dead are up and dancing.
