My aunt sometimes gives us eggs from her backyard chickens, is that considered unethical? Idk man the chickens are chill and free range so I'm genuinely curious ヽ(´ー`)┌
Many people relate veganism only with physical abuse of the animals or cruelty itself, but the meaning of veganism is wider and we abstain from any product even “when the animals are treated well”. Many chickens eat their own eggs to replenish nutrients they lost while creating the egg shells, many sanctuaries, for example, feed those eggs back to the chickens. And also remember, all of those animals end up in the slaughterhouse as well.
We respect every sentient being in every single form, we don’t use them for entertainment, food, clothing..and it’s very important to add that we don’t need to consume eggs anyway.
Also, check out this fact about eggs. You’re the only one who can make a decision if you go vegan is for all animals, to abstain from all animal products, otherwise will be hypocrisy (unless you have a true impediment), but if you have a choice then yes, it will be hypocrite to say you’re vegan while you still eat animal products. And please note, I know this sounds judgmental, but I’m just speaking in general about the situation, not about you personally.
