Better than a training exercise
Winter threw out a challenge. "It's more than just a friendly hug, hm?"
"I… yes." His arms trembled for a moment, as if they were deciding to let her go or not. They did not.
"Danse…" she croaked. "I would've come back."
Winter risked a glance at his face. Danse was flushed, and it looked damn good on him. His eyes, so warm as the golden sunlight reflecting in them, revealed a myriad of emotions playing catch with one another.
Winter felt her stomach churn into a knot. She knew this gaze. Nate flashed it at her all the time.
Danse wetted his lips, a motion that drew Winter's attention to them. They were full and slightly parted.
It would be so easy to kiss him now, Winter mused. She wanted to do just that, she wanted to throw her caution to the wind and tell him how much she liked him, but she tore her glance away, back to his eyes instead. A millisecond later she wished she didn't. The look he gave her made her knees weak and she sucked in a sharp breath.
As if he was having the same idea, Danse glanced at her lips, and Winter realized, her mouth was slightly ajar, too.
Danse tightened his hold on her, something she thought was impossible given how much he was already squeezing her and tilted his head a bit, and she did the same unthinking.
Danse's breathing picked up a pace, she felt his warm exhale on her skin and it made her shudder.
Winter is coming, and that means, Winter is here;
Revamped Nuclear Winter is up!
Many thanks to my talented writer friends for their support;

@purple-martin111 & @mrninjapineapple for beta’ing;
without you this still wouldn’t be here.
Is there anyone out there still waiting for Nuclear Winter?
3 OTP questions - Danse x Winter
I was tagged by @scorpio-skies then @prydwencats! I was meaning to do it much, much earlier, but it took me forever to finish this piece of art I just happened start right before I got tagged. There are no accidents, huh?
[Art in bigger]
1) How did they meet?
Boring as it is, they met in Cambridge, during ‘Fire Support’. Winter and Preston helped the recon team oppose the feral onslaught and they were invited to the station itself. Or to be more precise, she made Danse invite them. There was something in him that made her trust him almost immediately.
Danse was more than surprised to see a wastelander come to their aid, but he was being cautious at first. Despite that, his instinct told him to allow the newcomers enter the station. There was something in Winter that captured him at the first sight, and it had nothing to do with appeal.
2. Were they immediately interested/attracted or did that come later?
Well... I mean, it would be a lie if I said Winter didn’t find Danse to be attractive, but she brushed it off. Danse didn’t think much about her appearance at first either, but he was impressed by her raw marksman skill. After a certain amount of time they spent together, however, it shifted slowly... Long missions, close calls, countless training sessions alternated for months. There was a point, - not at the same time for both per se -, when they realized the obvious. After a lot of hardship they endured together, their bond is now harder than steel. It wasn’t easy, of course, but I’m afraid you’ll have to wait until I publish Nuclear Winter.
3. What did they think of each at first?
Winter thought Danse was a good leader and stubborn as hell. She was right.
Danse thought Winter was a good sniper and reckless as hell. He was also right.
Yes, muse, thank you! I need more Danse hugs content, thanks brain!
