A self portrait study from life inspired by Alice Neel’s first and only self portrait at age 80. I saw her painting in a monograph about her and instantly closed the book, walked home and painted this. (then i didn’t like its direction and abandoned it, thus why it hasn’t seen light in 6 months)

Sadly, after 10 years the gallery will be closing and all the artists who exhibited in the gallery were invited to show one work in this exhibit. (The Studio's final show will be in April.)
