I really can't decide between comments that are totally incoherent and end in "I LOVE U" and super detailed ones that show a high level of attention to detail, esp exact quotes from the fic. it's so surreal to have someone love a character i have written from my own mind

i've talked about it a little that ms. vicar is a randomly generated username which feels a little disingenuous but I am genuinely just bad at URLs and at the time of creation was more motivated to post fic than to have a url i felt connected to

previously i said this was watching BBC documentary content on tudor and medieval life so to add to that: using pine tar as antiseptic. i learned that without even trying

summer thunderstorms are wonderful except when the hail shreds your tomato plants.

the best part of the day is the little cat in the window I pass on my walk home, or maybe drinking coffee out of my hot pink moka pot (named breakfast!)

my classes this fall are important but I feel a little out of touch bc some of the theory is just. Not applicable to a real life job and honestly idk if I’ll ever be employable outside of food service 😭 feeling very discouraged today. And why do I need to read three separate books about the Haitian revolution in three weeks!!!!!

the best part of writing is when someone whose opinion you value tells you your stuff is good, and the worst part is when you make yourself sit down and write but it’s nonsense when you read it back!! Like the pacing is off and the dialogue is chunky and it’s just useless and you know you have to start over but you’ve already sunk so much time into it.

😎 What fics do you prefer on a scale of canon compliant to wildly original?

for the most part I'm partial to canon-compliant simply because those settings tend to make the characters more recognizable. however a wildly original fic can absolutely hit if the characterization is well done with tons of attention to detail

🥳 Why did you start writing fanfic?

this is such a can of worms bc of course i started in middle school as an outlet for my romantic Oliver Wood fantasies (hot AND scottish...why don't i write more soap???) but i took a good long break after that. I got back into it when I started reading some really good stuff on here for COD and realized that there was a way to engage with these really compelling stories and characters without having to play a FPS or give infinity ward any money for it.

📗 Do you want to write something outside of fanfiction? If so, what about?

I'm not sure I'm an original fiction kinda gal yet but maybe I'll get there someday. In the past I've published some personal essays that I really enjoyed writing so maybe that'll come back around? I'd enjoy freelancing in New Yorker-style reporting tbh

🧪 Do you research for your fics?

Honestly I used to spend HOURS in a wikipedia hole agonizing over every detail but now I'm so lax about it. If you remember that part in to the flame pt 2 where moth talks about hacking... i made that shit up. I think a long time ago I might have tried to make that realistic but now I try to base the most believable parts of my stories on personal experience and wing it through the rest.
