The mob of monsters dispersed in their panic state as Ev hurriedly flipped through the coding for that AU. Four coding panels floated around him as he pulled the damage from them and fueled the original code with his magic to rebuild it. Though three ribs appeared to be missing and a long crack extended up from his left eye, the deity remained unfazed as he hurriedly worked along.
This job honestly sucks sometimes. But there really isn’t any reason to be wasting time to think about that right now. The code took some time to rebuild but at least it seemed to have done the trick. With a swift cutoff of magic, the boards dissipated. It would take a while for the damage to be reversed.. but that was the least of his worries. The gentle flow of information continued as he turned his attention to Nulls existence.
..I w-wonder if they know I m-miss them.”
The words cut into him, tearing at his very soul as he forced back the emotion that threatened to overtake him. Oh Null.. You’ll see your brothers soon.. Your brothers miss you so very much..
The harsh sound of tearing rips through the now silent world, the deity slipping through into the anti-void. N stood, form shaking in exhaustion. Any trace of his foe appeared completely erased from existence. No dust. No soul. Ev didn’t need an explanation, that knowledge having long since reached him. However it didn’t take back the pain that shot through his soul as he approached his lover. A web of cracks stretched over most of the right side of N’s face. Grey-scales of blood beaded from a number of the cracks like fresh morning dew clinging to the threads of a spider’s web.
The duo exchanged sympathetic, exhausted glances before the color skeleton spoke. His concerned tone lowered as his hand reached to cup the others undamaged cheek.
“N sweetie.. Here, let me heal th-”
“No.” N spoke softly, offering his lover the best smile he could muster. “You’re hurt far more than I am, Ev.. And considering how you look right now, you can’t possibly have enough magic to heal well. Preserve your strength.. I will be fine, just let it heal naturally.”
“No arguing today, there is something far more important to tend to than my cracked skull right now, isn’t there?”
Ev opened his mouth to answer, but then.. He forgot he was still tuned into Null as he caught occasional sentences from his talk with Cheer. His brother’s voice broke through the deity’s attempts to hold his composure.
“There’s a lot of m-more important things g-going on in the whole v-verse than this I’m s-sure.”
The words sparked an automatic flinch from the colorful skeleton as he nodded to N. So the anons had spoken to N as well.. He knew..
“Yeah.. We should get going soon to see Null..”
“We should.. probably clean up a bit first though.. We both.. Look like a complete mess..”
The taller skeleton silently nodded in agreement. It was for the best.. So Null didn’t have to worry as much. It was for the best.
At least he had stocked N’s anti-void with a medical kit and extra clothes already.
With bandages concealing some wounds and dressed in clean clothes, the duo readied to visit their little brother. The colorless skeleton gripped his lovers hand as the other opened a rift to Null’s anti-void. N clung to him as if letting go meant he would crumple with ease. Both knew what lay before them. Both understood what they missed--what they failed to protect Null from. But despite the fear of how Null may react to them finally showing up, they stepped through.
