it feels like all I ever want to draw is fire choros
Wanted to put up a few more fire choro characters on Art Fight so I picked the ones that are most varied in color and shape.
Nully has been on Art Fight for a few years now but Hawk, Ash, and Shell will be new.
Hawk
Hawk is half lightning, half fire, but inherited the element of fire. Her lightning choro features show through the most in her smaller size, as well as her longer, and more pointed tail and wings. Hawk is second in the pecking order in Nully’s small flock, only below Nully herself. She is more contemplative than most fire choros and doesn’t tend to rush into things. Like most members of Nully’s flock, she a crush on Nully. Unlike the rest of the flock, however, Hawk does not make frequent advances toward her leader.
Hawk has an extremely good memory and sometimes acts as the unofficial flock historian and advisor to Nully.
Ash
Ash’s flock has a nebulous dynamic, being composed of multiple small flocks that are frequently splitting and joining to form one larger group that cooperate well enough to coexist without serious fighting (most of the time). Her flock includes both fire and lightning choros, and has been inclusive of lightning choros for many generations.
Although Ash does not think of herself as mixed, she has one lightning choro grandparent. This ancestry shows mainly in her talon coloration (gray is a common lightning choro talon color) and larger wings and tail.
Ash is in love with the rain choro, Mango. Although her flock eventually drives him away, she has one clutch of eggs with him before that happens. She is the mother of Juniper and Shell. She is rarely honest with her young about their heritage.
Shell
Shell is an unusual fire choro, being half rain and half fire, (although, like his siblings, he was told that he was lightning/fire). His rain choro side shows the most in his more dainty talons, small stature, and curly feathers. Shell also has a jolly personality and persistent courtship style, both of which are characteristic of a rain choro tiercel.
As a young adult he left his natal flock and travelled far enough that no one around had any clue where he came from or even what a rain choro looked like. He received the nickname Shell for having a beak that extends so far on his forehead, “like the shell stuck to him.” as well as for appearing extremely neotenous in general.
Shell is among the lowest in the pecking order in Nully’s flock, but not low enough to be in danger of immediate expulsion. He has a significant crush on Nully which is not reciprocated. Others in the flock view his courtship behavior toward Nully as a (somewhat pathetic) bid for power, as being the mate of a formel automatically raises a tiercel to directly below them in status. But actually, outside of his goal of wooing Nully, he is not ambitious.

In summary these choros are Fire, Fire-Lightning, Fire with some Lightning heritage, and Fire-Rain. Keep in mind that choros only take one element from their parent, though. While Hawk is a fire choro with a lightning choro parent, by other choros she would never be referred to as a Fire-Lightning. The element itself doesn’t mix.
