the reason why Americans get to call themselves Americans is because the name of the country is the United States of AMERICA. If you look at any country that is part of the Americas non of them have that of America part other wise they would be able to call themselves Americans or americanos.
So what you’re saying is that a person, say from Mexico, cannot call themselves American, even though they live in North America? That’s like someone in Germany not being allowed to call themselves European because it’s not in their name.
I think I finally have my next tattoo figured out!
