Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. -I'm trying something new the past week. I am recording the number of days left in my life every day. Assuming I will live until 80 years old, I have 14,589 days to live. Counting our days will give us a new perspective and energy to live life to the fullest every single day. Say I love you to your loved ones now, do that project you've been keeping in the shelf today, Plan that vacation you've been delaying in the next six months, start taking that MBA or PhD next year. I was listening to the song, "Blink," just recently and taking in the lyrics. Not for the first time, because it's been a favorite for awhile. But as a reminder to me. It's easy to return to a place where we become comfortable and complacent. Afraid to savor new moments, old friends, fresh insight, familiar wisdom... It all happens in such a blink. Why would we take to that rat wheel and run without thinking? Why not spend that fresh 24 hours like we've never lived it before? Because we haven't. If you remember correctly, I'm still relinquishing this year. But I'm also stepping into new things. With fear? Kind of. But that well known quote of "courage is fear that's said its prayers," seems to be the theme of my life right now. A frightened girl who just wants things to stay the same and keep me comfortable now understands what great things come from a determination to live wild and free and with obedience to Him who has a greater plan. So I blink. But I blink knowing that each day is going to hold something even more magnificent than the last. I blink knowing that days are numbered and if I'm not doing it for Him...why do it at all? #thissideofgrace #morningmeditation #womenintheword #numberourdays
