Maybe I’d sound a little better If my features were more sweet
Your mind’s already been made up You saw my number and my number wasn’t good enough
Not What I Meant | dodie & Lewis Watson
Soulmates AU + Rating on a Scale of 1–10 AU + Modern Day AU
They’re soulmates, they just don’t know that yet.
Jaime struggles with his label as a six: his entire family always pretends to be tens, but Jaime refused, trying to be unbothered by his “less-than-satisfactory” rating. He just wants one person not to judge him by his name and number.
Brienne struggles with her rating as a ten: no one liked her before, but ever since she got her label, they’ve liked her even less out of jealousy. How could Brienne the Beauty be a ten? She just wants one person not to judge her by her looks and number.
One day, after spending a month working with his intelligent new employee, Brienne Tarth, Jaime’s number changes. Brienne notices first.
“Mr. Lannister...” she says softly, staring at his forehead.
“Yes?”
“Your number...” She’s never mentioned either of our numbers... “It’s a seven.”
At first Jaime doesn’t react. And then he rushes to take out his phone and check his reflection: there on his forehead sits a bold, black seven. He touches it to make sure it’s real. It doesn’t smudge, so he lets himself grin.
My number changed. My number changed. My number fucking changed.
I'm asking you to do all of the writing meme! >:3
is the numbers au ok for this?
FIRST — the first two sentences of my current project
Maka Albarn, age seven skipped down the hallway of her home. It was a very special day, it was the day where her mama’s number reached zero!
LAST — the most recently written two sentences of my current project
"You know what?" ‘Star yelled, "just for that, you have to go to the festival with us on Saturday. I’m not giving you a choice!"
NEXT — the next line. meaning i will finish the sentence I’m on and write a new one, which you’ll get.
“What?! No!” Maka said, looking panicked. “You know I hate festivals or any public events. There is now way in hell I’m going.”
THE END — i’ll make up an ending, or post the ending if i’ve written it
and they all lived happily ever after…. (hehehhee that is not how it ends)
BEFORE THE BEGINNING — three sentences (or more) about something that happened before the plot of my current project
"Maka, sweetheart, why did you put numbers over mommy and daddy’s heads?" Kami asked her tiny daughter, gesturing at the drawing she held up at her.
Maka held up her picture and gave her mama a gaped tooth smile. “Those are mommy and daddy’s numbers.”
POV — something that’s already happened, retold from another character’s perspective
hmmm, i was gonna do numbers au then i realized you have never read it before so, i will do Maka’s pov from the drum circle au drabble i did a while ago.
Maka smiled as she spun, her long, red skirt sticking to her legs as she moved. The flowers on her head where wilting from the non-stop pounding of the rain and her legs where getting tired but as she glanced over back at her tent she just saw Soul looking at her and smiling. looking at her. After that, she kept dancing.
sorry its so short! thanks for the ask!! :D

In a universe where everyone is born with numbers on their wrists counting down to when they’ll meet their soulmate, send me 00:00:00 for my muse’s reaction to their numbers hitting zero when they meet yours.
Azrael had spent an eternity with numbers on her arms.
They’d been there as long as she could remember—a very long time indeed.
Her siblings had explained it had to do with humanity, something with soulmates and love and the like. She needn’t worry about it, her numbers would likely never change, it was only something to concern herself about if her vessel’s numbers changed while she occupied it.
They’d been immobile for as long as she could remember, too. Static, dull, barely noticeable most days. But they were still… There.
And then she’d taken a vessel. The numbers became more bold, more apparent, and—oddly—started moving. They counted down, though to what she didn’t know. But away they went, already surprisingly low: 872:37:09. 08. 07.
Her math told her that it wasn’t long at all, about five weeks. It struck her as odd, and she wondered if she would leave her vessel before then, if it was just something meant for her vessel.
But time went on, and she found her numbers dropping lower still. 609:51:58.
413:06:12.
142:10:25.
It was worrying her, against her better judgment, as the numbers dipped lower and lower. She hadn’t expected such a thing to happen, and she had to wonder if the numbers were meant for her, not her vessel.
61:42:30.
33:01:90.
And then the final day dawned, the numbers still ticking downwards. She shrugged it off, deciding to wander through London. She’d not been to its museums yet, after all, and she did so love them.
02:19:23.
But as she walked slowly through the Tate Modern, studying art, she was a little nervous. What if it was for her? What if she was destined to have a soulmate…?
She laughed it off after a moment, shaking her head of blonde hair in amusement. She couldn’t have a soulmate. That required a soul, didn’t it?
Turning, she didn’t notice the man until she crashed into him. She staggered back, nearly falling over a bench as she blushed. “I-I’m so, so sorry!” She managed to regain her footing, and she looked up at him. “I—I really am. Are you okay?” She reached out, putting a hand on his shoulder, then noticed something. Her wrist—the numbers were dull again.
Yanking her hand away, she pulled her wrist close. 00:00:00. That was… Unexpected. She grabbed his wrist before he could say anything, and it read the same. She held his arm for a moment, dumbfounded, before dropping it with sudden realization. “Wow. Um.” She paused, staring at her wrist again. “I legitimately had never expected this to happen.” There was another pause, and she looked up at him with an awkward smile. “I’m… I’m Azrael. Hi.”
