This is what Joseph and Emaline get to navigate every week getting their Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine through the Pacific College of Health and Sciences in San Diego, CA. They each have a 4 year Bachelor’s, 4 year Master’s and now are doing 2 more years to get their Doctorate, with lots of classes and trainings and a 2 year Dream Work Certificate in-between. Full Chinese Medicine practitioners have TONS of training, not only in acupuncture, but in nutrition, herbal medicine, internal martial arts (tai ji and qi gong), translation work, body work, lifestyle guidelines- and TONS of Western Medicine and science training. Feels like almost half of graduate and doctoral school work is western medicine pathology, diagnosis, understanding medication, lab ordering and reports, healthcare systems - and more. Came across this gem from 2007 in rural southeastern China, when Emaline and a few other schoolmates from NUNM traveled with their teacher, Heiner Fruehauf, to meet his teachers. We met Qi Gong and Tai Ji Masters, herbalists, acupuncturists, Chinese Medicine scholars, Daoist monks, tea masters, medicinal chefs and more. The journey of a lifetime.
