As a child, she never understood it. If she wore her gloves, she could touch things without problem, no risk of killing anyone...! Still, her father insisted she not touch a soul, not touch him, and in turn she felt like she lived behind a glass wall. As she grew, she partially resented him for that fact, though her small interactions with the outside world kept her from ever leaving the house. People were greedy; when they found out what she could do with her gifts they demanded it as if they deserved it. Though her father had little idea what the constant lack of affection did for her, people didn’t understand the toll it took to heal or to bring one back from death’s embrace...
At least with age, Taylor was allowed to leave her cage to go out, often picking up ingredients, more mice, or perhaps just normal food... This was one such trip, leaving the house to get food for later that evening. Upon her return however, something felt... Off. Firstly, the door had been left just a crack open, not setting off the alarm system she would’ve had to turn off with a combination outside. Still, that may have been her own fault to forget to close it, but she couldn’t find the man intended to be her father... Anywhere she looked immediately. The kitchen, the living room...
Peering up the stairs towards their rooms, she considered running up herself... But she was caught between running up herself or just simply yelling up the stairs. Glancing behind her, making sure the door was shut this time, she just simply yelled up. “I’m home...! I’m going to start making dinner now,” she called, waiting for a brief moment for a response. She got... None. Whole body on alert, she gently slid one glove off her hand, making her way slowly up the stairs. What was going on, did he leave without telling her? Was he finally abandoning her? But he never left the door open... She felt fear settling in her stomach, she had no idea what to expect...
