One of my favorite things about nahlaka is how he can talk a big game all he likes, but he is fully incapable of killing her and they both know it. Like she is his raison d'etre, and he would be lost without her. He can torture her and make her miserable, and they will both enjoy it, but he's made her a fundamental part of his existence and he can't unweave her from his DNA anymore.

If push came to shove and a bigger bad guy ordered Nus Braka to kill Nahla Ake, he would not be able to pull the trigger because he would not know what he is without her. She already took apart his entire worldview and now all that remains is his pursuit of her; to lose that too would destroy him.

Another point from my re-watch: it is simply so deliciously interesting how much Nahla hates Braka. He is extremely theatrical in his misogynistic obsession with her but she despises him so deeply, so personally, I genuinelly think she wants to hurt him just as much as he wants to hurt her. She is all about empathy and she has so much love and care for everyone around her, but there is zero of that when Braka is concerned. She doesn't give a fuck about his shitty childhood just as much as he doesn't give a fuck about her dead son. Basically she gets on his level and I am in love with her for that.

After my very productive SFA re-watch I have thoughts on Nus Braka and his colourful mix of Earth references. Because he just shouldn't be making them that damn often, literally no one mentions Earth's culture (or speaks French) as often as him. So I believe there are a couple of possible explanations/theories:

He was lying about his whole history (that's why his story didn't add up in the finale, because it didn't happen) and was born and raised and educated on Earth, in Ohio or wherever the fuck his accent could place him.

After the accident on his colony he was actually made a warden of the federation and raised not on Earth but by humans with classical education and interest in 20th century cinema.

He got a decent (but very Earth-focused) education in federation prisons.

His parents were obsessed with human culture for some reason.

He himself is a human weeaboo.

Nus Braka brought up trauma loops in relation to Nahla, but the one who is actually looping is him. This man lives and breathes Nahla Ake, he replays every interaction they ever had in his head every day multiple times a day, he remembers her every word, her every move, her facial expressions to a minute detail, her smell probably or how it felt to touch her hair. It wouldn't surprise me if he had a folder full of Nahla's photos that he looks at before bed (and I don't even think it's sexual most of the time, he just needs her for emotional support). You know, like an average Nahla fan on tumblr.

Seeing the Klingon outfits from Vox Excelso again made me truly realize how Klingon Braka dresses and it makes me think about his family. Does he dress in top notch Klingon fashion because he was raised very Klingon? Or is the exact opposite – he likes the fashion because it makes him feel closer to that part of him even though he wasn't really involved in Klingon culture as a child and teen? Or is it just lack of imagination when it comes to black leather? (I kinda doubt that, the costume department seems to be quite intentional, but it is an option!).

I just had a vision of Braka patronizingly calling Nahla a good girl and now I can’t unsee it.
