How do genes work with ghouls? I mean, are certain kagune more dominant? We know that Touka and Ayato get their ukaku from their mother while their father had a koukaku (wiki says this). Can kagune skip generations?

Ghouls have one more chromasome pair than humans, that effects rc and kagune.
The Bikaku gene is dominant to Rinkaku, the Rinkaku gene is dominant to Koukaku, the Koukaku gene is dominant to Ukaku, and the Ukaku gene is dominant to Bikaku. If a Koukaku and Bikaku or Rinkaku and Ukaku couple have a kid, the outcome is 50/50. Here’s a general punnett square of how that works
It is possible for an rc type to skip generations, for instance, lets take two Ukakus, one of them has a recessive Rinkaku gene, the other has a recessive Bikaku gene. They would have a 1/4 chance of having a Bikaku kid
There are other aspects of kagune that can be passed down. Things like coloration, rc oxygen content, and kagune shape can be influenced by both parents regardless of rc type outcome. If on parent has a plain red Koukaku and the other has a veiny purplish Ukaku, their kid could have a veiny purplish Koukaku
Chimeras are very rare and can be caused by one of two things. The less common reason is reabsorbing a fraternal twin in utero. The much more common reason is a genetic disorder in which the alleles both attempt to be dominant, though this happens the most with Ukaku/Rinkaku and Bikaku/Koukaku pairings. Hinami is an example of reabsorbtion, Nutcracker is an example of the allele disorder
Things get complicated when it comes to humans since they simply don’t have the kagune chromosome, and the lack of Kagune seems to be dominant. I’ll be using Yoshimura and Ukina as an example.
There’s only that single 1/4 chance of the child having a kagune, and due to the lack of input from one parent, it’s identical to the ghoul parent. It takes a perfect chromosome from the ghoul and a lot of luck for that kid to come out with a working kagune, so Eto was pretty lucky

i started viewing mayu as a transfeminine enby about a year or so ago? it's canon that she has very severe lack of self-esteem in her appearance despite carrying herself like she's confident. i kinda tie this into gender dysphoria,, i think she is very far along in her transition and has had both top and bottom surgery, is stealth, and she passes as a cis woman always, but to her, she is always finding flaw with parts of her appearance and is extremely paranoid about being perceived as manly or masculine. one thing she has always known about herself with absolute certainty, no matter how confusing any other aspects of herself may be to her, is that she is not a man. at the same time, she feels a big disconnect from womanhood as a Role in Society because she has never ever wanted to be a woman who takes care of a man or is expected to be nurturing by default, even though she identifies with femininity very highly. this is how she landed on her nonbinary identity. she doesn't disclose her nonbinary identity to anyone until she is certain they don't view her as masculine or manly, until she feels safe, and when she does disclose, many people assume she was AFAB and she doesn't correct them.
i have a bit of a complex idea of juuzou's relation to transness. juuzou, to me, is intersex: he specifically has swyer syndrome. he relates heavily to aspects of cis manhood and also heavily to aspects of trans manhood, and rather than identifying as a cis man or a trans man, he is somewhere in the middle of these two categories and he takes pride in it. i like relating the genital torture and mutilation big madame performed on him to how many intersex children have unnecessary procedures performed on them in infancy. i don't have the metaphor all the way worked out but it's something i ponder and will probably have more of a solid thought on in the future. stay tuned. or feel free to add on if you would like.
probably my all time favorite trans headcanon for any tokyo ghoul character is trans girl hinami fueguchi. i think she came out very young and both of her parents were extremely supportive so she started transition young too. her father took care of all of her medical care and her mother took care of the more touchy-feely parts of it. they loved her so much. she is broadly accepted by all that she is surrounded by. no one in her daily life is or has been purposefully transphobic, though they do sometimes have ignorant comments or questions. touka has definitely slapped the shit out of someone for one of these comments/questions, but the person saying it never means any harm. i also headcanon kaya irimi as a trans woman and i view her as having taken over hinami's care after her parents died. later on, when hinami is living with kaneki's group, i think it is both shuu and kaneki that stay on top of it. mostly shuu tbh. when she's in aogiri, she has learned how to access HRT and stuff all on her own so she independently takes care of it!
nowww onto kaya irimi. okay. this one i don't have a ton of complex thoughts on other than i think she is a femme lesbian and she deserves a butch partner. who that should be...? i don't know. sometimes it's hirako in my mind palace. i should write a fic abt this. anyways yes she takes wonderful care of hinami and was extremely excited to have a sister (if not sisterly figure) who was also trans. she loves touka so much obviously but her bond with hinami was special in a somewhat different way because they were both trans and irimi felt like she got to impart wisdom of trans girlhood onto hinami that she never got to give to anyone else. hinami is good at comforting her too like not in the most conventional sense of comforting someone but hinami's existence as a young trans girl who has had a better life than her (in certain ways) gives her so much hope. sometimes she gets really dark and dysphoric and wonders why she even bothers to continue her transition when it's so hard, and harder tenfold for ghouls, and then she thinks of hinami and is like "if not for myself, i have to do it for her." bc hinami looks up to her so much!!!
seidou being a transmasc enby is another one i really enjoy. i think that pre-ghoulification, his identity was a lot more binary and less complex at first glance. he identified strictly as a man and as straight, despite having semi-frequent moments where he questioned both of these aspects of his identity. seidou was constantly around men who were very macho and cisnormative in their manhood at the CCG and he tried to model himself after them because he felt like that was what he had to do to even remotely fit in. he was so unaccepting of juuzou in my mind bc he was jealous of how juuzou had no care in the world about the way he chose to present himself and was confident in his manhood. basically, seidou had always wanted to explore getting more GNC with his presentation, his potential attraction to men and allowing his gender to take less of a distinct shape. but felt he couldn't because he was valuing trying to fit in with the people around him as best as he could over anything else. post-ghoulification, he had been brutally tortured and had his sense of self torn asunder. he had become a ghoul— something he hated and something society deemed completely unacceptable. he had been turned into a monster too by being forced to eat his parents. seidou gave up on trying to fit in a bit at this point in most aspects, knowing he could never get back to how he was before. if he was going to be someone completely unacceptable bc of his species, why care any longer about what people would think of him if he explored the things he had been pushing down for so long?

OMG thank you for asking!! i have about four tg polyships that i particularly enjoy, and three out of the four are rareships, ie. ones that i don't really see others talk about much, if at all. they are rizemayukana, seiakirona, mutsaurie, and shiramutsurie. i am going to make this post into multiple parts (will be connected by reblogs) bc of how long it has gotten from just one of the polyships in particular. and, also, i'm having a hard time getting everything out for everyone all at once!! i'll update as i feel the urge to :3 rizemayukana under the cut!! stay tuned for more <3
RizeMayuKana (Rize Kamishiro x Mayu / Nutcracker x Kanae von Rosewald)
i view mayu as being the physically strongest out of the three. my body headcanon for her is that she is a little bit of a muscular woman, not super buff but visibly muscular, especially when flexing. kanae is a little bit stronger than rize, leaving rize as the "weakest" (which she makes up for with usage of her kagune). all of that being said, i think there is a picture out there somewhere of mayu with kanae and rize perched on her hips. in it, rize has her arms wrapped around mayu's neck and her head is back as she's laughing, and kanae's arms are the same but they have their face buried in mayu's neck to hide their beet red cheeks. mayu's got a mischievous/proud smile on her face as she holds them up. it's mayu's favorite picture of the three of them, and she has it as her phone background.
kanae always tries to match a part of their outfit to their girlfriends' when they go out together. it's funny because rize and mayu don't ever match each other, because their styles are so different, but kanae wants to incorporate both of them into their outfit. it's a very sweet, very butch, gesture. they want to make sure those who look at the three of them know what they're all about, that they're together. the matching aspects of kanae's outfits can be as small as a decorative handkerchief in their breast pocket matching the pattern of rize's dress and some cufflinks matching the style of mayu's jewelry, or a full suit matching the most prominent color from rize's outfit, and the most prominent color from mayu's outfit. the way they walk down the street when this happens is a way meant to accentuate how much kanae is the middle ground between rize and mayu's outfits, ie. kanae in the center with rize on one arm and mayu on the other. it flusters kanae a bit, to be in public with two beautiful women on their arms, as it draws attention, but it also fills them with a sense of pride!
their movie nights are rather interesting. they all have pretty contradicting tastes. rize is mostly into thriller/drama, mayu is mostly into horror and kanae is mostly into historical fiction. there's a cycle they go through on movie night. it goes rize's movie first, mayu's movie second, kanae's movie third, and then a movie they all choose together last. sometimes they don't manage to get through all four movies in one night, so one or two have to be pushed to the next night to finish. that's okay, though, any excuse to hang out with each other more is appreciated. the differences in all of their tastes helps the three of them expand their interests, and all of them have gone into a movie they thought they would dislike and then come out on the other side having enjoyed it a lot. i think a movie that is a collective favorite amongst them all is park chan-wook's "the handmaiden," as it mixes all of their favorite genres quite well >:))
in a no ghoul AU, i think that rize owns a bookshop in tokyo with a small flower shop built into it out front. kanae works in the flower shop part time. part time because they also go to university for music (violin) and that takes up a lot of their time. there are a few others who work in the flower shop part time too, but kanae is rize's best employee. they are particularly skiled at caring for the flowers and putting together bouquets. i think that kanae actually nervously asked rize on a date with a bouquet made up of flowers matching rize's favorite colors, and after about three or four dates, they decided to be together. they keep their relationship status very quiet at work because rize doesn't want any of her other employees to think she is picking favorites, and kanae is a very private person when it comes to that stuff anyways due to shyness. mayu owns a tattoo and piercing parlor in tokyo as well. i think her and rize actually met a convention in tokyo meant for women who are business owners. their styles and businesses couldn't have been any more different from one another, but they were drawn to each other anyways. mayu and rize really hit it off at the function, and exchanged business cards with their personal numbers scribbled on the back in pen. they texted with each other a lot over the next several weeks, and rize shared about their partner kanae and how she'd like to introduce mayu to them as well. the same conversation was had with kanae. both of them were down for it. the first meeting of them all together was at a coffee shop (perhaps :re?), and kanae and mayu actually hit it off just as much as rize and mayu had. their second meeting was at mayu's parlor, for rize to get a small floral tattoo on her collarbone and for kanae to get their ears pierced. someone else did rize's tattoo but mayu did kanae's ears, and they got to know each other a bit more through this. this led to their polycule!!

one of my tg polyships is rizemayukana. i don't talk about it much cuz it's a bit niche, but i feel prompted to right now. i just tried to find that polyship meme post where it's two people looking mischievous and wearing shirts that say "our third" and then in between them is someone looking a bit disgruntled or embarrassed, and i couldn't find it, but that's absolutely how i envision this ship. rize and mayu are the ones with the "our third" shirts and kanae is the one in the middle.
i kinda think kanae is their little butch plaything. they love teasing them and getting them worked up and flustered. kanae is a really easy target in this way imo cuz they get super flustered super easily. rize and mayu think it's the cutest thing in the entire world so they do it a lot.
i think mayu does a lot of the housework around her and rize's apartment. she dusts and mops and sweeps. it's something she finds rather relaxing, actually. mayu grew up without a roof over her head, so nowadays she's just grateful to floors and shelves to clean at all.
rize is by no means lazy, but has a distaste for most housework. she loathes all of the misogynistic expectations that had been put on her during her time in the sunlit garden, even as a little girl. she's done everything in her power to subvert those expectations since her escape. she will do housework and when she has to, and she did for many years when she lived alone, but is comfortable with allowing mayu to do a lot of the things she does around the apartment.
rize, however, is the main caretaker of laundry in their abode. this is a chore she's never really minded in the first place, and she especially doesn't mind doing it for another woman, one that she loves at that. rize is very meticulous about separating the fabrics and colors. mayu wasn't at all before, and rize just couldn't stand that with all of the fancy clothing both her and mayu owned.
rize takes on the task of ironing, too. another thing she enjoys that mayu had found useless before. she has gained a new appreciation for the importance of crisp, unwrinkled clothing in a look. all thanks to rize!
neither of them are very tech savvy, though. so, a professional or perhaps even a friend does have to be called to fix problems with their television and other electronics. they don't really mind.
rize makes the bed most every day as well. mayu doesn't particularly understand why, as her thoughts are that it's just going to get messed up again anyways. though, she allows rize to do it regardless. it pleases her, she she sees to reason to disrupt that.
the kitchen is pretty much unused, so it doesn't really require anything other than a light dusting here and there. neither of them are ghouls who care enough to cook the meat of their prey. they do this together, with rize on dusting dishes and mayu on dusting cabinets and the like.
the bathroom is something they also take on together. a deep clean is done every few months or so. it's much more efficient to clean together instead of apart.
i love imagining how they split up their chores :•) i think they both deserve domesticity!
