i think arima doesn't get social media. like, not in the sense that he's inept and doesn't understand how it works, but more so he doesn't get why people choose to be on it. he's very very offline, and he's never even attempted to have a social media account. he already kind of hates (but tolerates) the excess attention he receives in person, so i think he'd find anything extra far too overwhelming. he also thinks social media is a very superficial place that contributes to poor mental health, and can even be sort of righteous about it, but only if you get him onto the topic. like, maybe a quinx member brings up some complaints about a lack of likes while arima is stopped by the chateau, and it winds him up into a gentle and somewhat awkward (and unsolicited) lecture about how they were placing too much emphasis on things that don't actually matter. whichever quinx it is, they just kind of stand there with a confused face, half-heartedly nodding and giving responses like "uh-uh..." or "yep..."

haise nagged him into making an instagram bc he tried sending arima some videos/posts related to books and stuff over text, but arima was unable to view them from just the link. arima's account is completely blank and has zero posts, and he only follows haise, just so he can properly receive haise's messages. he never replies, just leaves everything on read after looking at whatever haise has sent him. arima made haise promise that he wouldn't share the account with anyone because of how cringeworthy he finds the idea of getting attention on this account for being the CCG's White Reaper™️. so, he and haise both believe they're the only ones who know about it.

now, saiko is a lurker at heart. she loves to look through peoples' accounts like they're the morning paper. she was looking through haise's following once, and stumbled across arima's blank account. she sort of put together it was arima and followed the account with a burner so she can send really random stuff to his message requests. she thinks it's hilarious and it's a secret she hasn't told to anybody. arima is yet to find out cuz he doesn't check his message requests.
