   A park lay out before him, flashbacks of green still present in the layout of fallen trees and inbetween patches of dank mud. Just when Aoba figured he could find a place untouched by natural disaster, his eyes locked with disappointment, causing an audible sigh to brush against still, silent air. Everything was simply too quiet here; he was a city boy at heart, so used to the hustle and bustle of useless citizens locked in useless cars around every corner.

   It was not as if he were alone here, but something about these people was wrong. 

   Aoba Kuronuma did his best to keep uncertainty at arm’s length, but on this island, he drowned in it.

   “No service, either,” he mused out loud, also unaware that he shared the space with another nearby. His sole attention, however, was on the phone he was given, complete with a contact list longer than he could have imagined. And halfway down the list was a name that made him grimace.

   “Izaya... talk about a tenth circle of hell.”

          The sudden appearance of a small bird perched ( quite happily, she notes ) on the head of Viy, still held tenderly in her arms, caused the princess to stop where she stood for a moment and furrowed her brows. It was not exactly something she had expected at such a late hour, especially in such a quiet part of town. Still, here she was with a new addition to her lonesome party of two. From what she could tell, the bird was a canary ( at least, she presumed so - it had been quite a while since she had seen any type of bird and even then it had been mostly from books that she had learned about the different species ) and its coloring, as well as its general attitude, suggested it was a domesticated one - thus, it had to have an owner it was currently away from. 

          One she would locate after she was done admiring her cute new companion. 

          “ Hello, lapochka. ” With the assumption she was alone, she smiled softly at the little bird and stroked a single finger against its feathers. She never had any birds while growing up ( though her siblings had owned cats, dogs, and even an elephant ) but she considered most species of animals to be quite adorable. They were creatures she cherished above all else - as had her family. Hopefully Viy did not mind its head being used as a perch for the time being. “ Are you lost, ptichka ? Do you want any help ? ”

Looming over a spot of blood, the villain crouched as she took the time to clean the small blade in her hand. She hummed softly to herself, occasionally looking to her side where a fresh corpse sat.

However, the sound of someone’s approach she froze. The villain moved slowly to see just who was bold enough to try and interrupt her, accidentally or on purpose. Upon seeing the sight of another teenager, Himiko pouted.

She moved, ensuring their eyes met, and spoke still holding her knife where it could be seen.

“Can I help you?”

No, he had a better idea than trouble-causing this time. “If you show me to the best bakery in town, I’ll treat you!” Of course, that wasn’t the real offer. “And I’ll make sure you get to eat it alone. Any interlopers will have to go through me~”
