Day 4-Baking (Echo)
(Sort of day 4. I forgot it was the 17th and was participating in the 24 hour log off protest so I’m posting days 4 and 5 today! hope y’all enjoy! And a big thank you to @graveyard-melodies for proofreading and letting me use her boy Echo for this fic ^^)
“Is that everything?” You asked Echo as you rounded the corner to the checkout counter, shopping cart filled with items you would need to make Christmas cookies. You had both come up with the idea to make cookies for all of your friends, and what better way to show them you cared then adorable cookies that looked like them?
“I think so!” Echo checked over the list you had prepared beforehand and rummaged through your cart, humming in confirmation when he found each item. “Yup! Looks like it!”
Despite your best efforts to protest, Echo paid and carried the bags on his own. He even shot you a wink, sticking his tongue out playfully when you tried to mention that you were fully capable of helping him carry the bags. But he was having none of it.
“I haven’t made these cookies before, and you have! So you might have to do most of the work, therefor, it is only fair I carry all the bags to make up for the slack!” Carefully placing the bags in the car, you both headed home, eager to begin making your delicious treats.
It was adorable seeing how excited Echo was to make them, he made a list of all his friends he wanted to make cookies for. There were quite a few. Which is why your cart was so full, the boy had a lot of love to give. He was especially excited to make Madpat and Bones’ cookies, insisting they had to be the biggest. You merely smiled and shook your head, allowing him to carry the bags inside and place them on the counter, immediately getting to work.
“Alright!” You clapped your hands together after laying out all of the items and getting out your bowls and measuring cups, “first we need to measure out each of the ingredients and mix them all in the bowl! Can you crack the eggs hun?”
Echo nodded excitedly, ready to get to work. Maybe he was a little too excited, and as he tried to crack open the first egg on the corner of the bowl it burst open and egg shells got all over the place. He pouted at his hand, as if it itself was the culprit of this crime and huffed, cleaning up the eggshells and trying again.
You tried not to giggle at his adorable behavior, and managed to keep it to yourself as your poured the appropriate amount of flour into the bowl as Echo destroyed another egg.
“Aw come on! That’s not fair!”
That’s when you lost it, cracking up laughing as he pouted at you, trying to pick up the egg shell pieces.
“(Y/n)! This isn’t funny! This is serious! The world only has so many eggs what if we run out!” You knew he was joking by his tone and his smile, but his comment only made you laugh even harder.
By now you had to put a hand on the counter, he was just too adorable.
“Oh I’ll show you funny, come here!” with a grin he lunged at you with his now flour covered hands as he was trying to retrieve the pieces of shell from the flour filled bowl and began tickling your sides as you both tumbled to the floor.
“ECHO! Stop it! I’m sorry! I’m sorry I won’t laugh at you anymore!” You barely managed to get out your words through your laughing, the flour all over your sides now, but he didn’t seem to care. He just smiled down at you playfully.
“I don’t know...it still sounds like you’re laughing to me…” he let out a few chuckles himself, your laughter contagious to him as you tried to squirm out of him grip.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry, I love you ok! Stop!” Tears were forming in your eyes as you laughed uncontrollably before he finally let up, leaning down to give you a kiss before pulling back with a grin.
He smiled down at you, not getting up as you took a moment to regain your breath. “Alright...I suppose we can finish baking now. But oh? You have something on your cheek baby~”
Was your boyfriend really trying to do the movie thing? The thing where he licked up stray food that got on your face? You tilted your head and your question was answered when he leaned down, you tried to warn him with an “Echo, wait!” but he seemed determined to fulfill the movie trope. And perhaps it may have been cute or even sexy another time. But…
He pulled back once he’d licked up the solid flour that was on your cheek, and stuck his tongue out, as if not wanting to taste it anymore, “ew! Yuck!”
You reached up to cover your mouth so you didn’t laugh again, “you dork! What did you think was gonna happen! We haven’t had time to put anything else in the bowl yet, flour is gross on its own!”
He pouted and tried to wipe his tongue off on the back of his hand, before getting up and getting water, but not before you saw how embarrassed he looked. This poor baby, he wanted to be cute and sexy! And he was, most of the time. He was just also dorky. But oh, did you love him for it.
You made a mental note to get cookie batter stuck on your face later when it would actually taste good so he could try again.
