A few more thoughts on the global pandemic depression, regarding consoles:

*Since the rollout of PS5 and Xbox Series X will be slow due to stock shortages, it is likely that this generation will last 8 years, instead of 7 like the previous one, but like Xbox 360 to Xbox One.

*In the same vein, the Switch will likely last 6 years as originally intended by Nintendo. That reconfirms no Switch Pro until 2021, something we already knew, but also no Switch successor until 2023, which was likely due to 3-year Pokémon generations.

*This also means DPPt remakes will be 2021, presumably.

*Mid-gen updates for consoles will lkely be the same as before (PS5 Pro for 2023, Xbox mid-gen update for 2024), but the computing gap between the two will be large. Unlike the last gen, PS5 will probably release a slim version of Pro to compete with Xbox in NA market.

*Since Xbox basically destroys PS5 in terms of power, it will probably win the NA market for a generation. PS5 will still win Europe and Japan, and will start making huge strides in Latin American market, as they will likely recover rather quickly after this crisis and become a major consumer market for the latter half of the decade. That probably won’t affect the console wars for the generation, though.

*With hardware ray tracing being the big thing this generation, the next generation after this will likely be insane, and very likely, the last, as we probably cannot evolve the physical optic format or wireless Internet connection further after 2030s.
