His face turned sour at her remark. “That’s a low hit, Temple,” he quipped back. Of course Claire would bring that incident up. “That was a long time ago. Some things should stay in the past.” Jim placed heavy emphasis on the word ‘stay’. Claire’s memory was always too good for his taste and it resulted in a lot of embarrassing times in his life to be resurfaced when they met up. “Most people would thank me for potentially saving their lives. That one looked vicious.”

“You know the other three ...” Colleen guessed the only real word for them was - “Heroes. It’s safe for Danny to be around them right, they’re not ... they’re not going to hurt them.” She wasn’t really worried about Danny being hurt if she was being honest with herself - with she wasn’t being - she was worried about being replaced.

     the LAST thing she wanted to do was go to a hospital but, at this point, there was no other choice. jessica stumbled into the entrance with her hand pressed to her side where blood was slowly leaking out and dripping to the floor. all she had to do was get to a room, get some supplies, and leave. but it was proving to be difficult as she stumbled with each step.

“Okay... well this isn’t about you, I just, need to get something out that’s been eating away at me.” Karen stares down at her coffee, fingers brushing along the mug, hell she could use an actual pancake. “And I can’t really, talk to anyone else about this...” Not when they had lied to her face, not when her two friends were the problem. “Just... it’s bullshit, you know. People you trust who only seem to lie again and again, and that dumb excuse of it being to protect or preserve people...” If they knew the real her, they’d know she didn’t need either of those things. “it’s bullshit” the second time it was significantly softer.

A groan escaped Clark’s lips as he raised himself on the bed. He couldn’t remember what had happened the night before or how he had ended up at this particular hospital in New York City, but that didn’t matter much. After the last few weeks he’d had, he could use a break.

“Nurse?” he said turning to one standing near the doorway. “Can you tell me how long I’ve been unconscious?”
