Think Dobbs won’t affect election results? Think again.

In New York’s 19th Congressional District, in a state where abortion is legal and protected, Pat Ryan made sure people knew that the GOP was considering a national ban and he would not stand for that.

In a district where the polling only focused on seniors and Pat Ryan was expected to lose by 3-8 points

Pat Ryan won. Democrat voters, worried about what Congressional Republicans would do after Dobbs, got the message and came out in a special election on a 2nd primary (not getting into that here, check out my other posts on the NYS primary election season) to make sure Pat Ryan won.

Pat Ryan is already making sure my district NY-18 also gets that message and comes out in force to vote for him in November (again, see my posts on NYS electoral maps for explanation on how that is possible). My region is very familiar of what the GOP is capable of.

This didn’t just happen in New York but it is notable because NY-19 is a true swing district and it impacted an election.

So if enough of us get the message and keep the fire burning to November, we can flip congressional districts. Do not believe any Republican running for the House or Senate that claims abortion will only be a states issue because they are lying.

Super PAC Ads Distort New York Congressional Candidate's 'Help Not Handcuffs' Quote - FactCheck.org

The Congressional Leadership Fund, a Republican super PAC, is running ads on TV and social media that distort Democratic House candidate Josh Riley's positions on crime. One ad misleadingly claims that the New York Democrat said he "supports help not handcuffs" for criminals, and another misleadingly implies he supports defunding the police.

I drove a cute little old lady to the polls. When we were getting out of the car she told me she was voting for Faso (I am volunteering at NY19). I almost had a heart attack and just starred at her not knowing what to say. Then she laughed and said “relax sweetheart. I am only messing with you because you look so serious. Don’t worry we’ll vote the bums out.” And the she squeezed my hand. Suddenly, all was well with the world, possibly.

I am guardedly optimistic.

If you could have one wish, what would it be?

Max: It would be real nice to just have one day. One day to sleep in, get a nice brunch, read those books I’ve been meaning to get to, and spend the evening with a glass of whiskey and a warm fireplace.

Jessica: Didn’t you spend enough time lazing around in prison?

Max: Wh- In prison! Are you kidding me? I-

Jessica: I don’t have the time to hear it. I just wish for Michael’s health and happiness. And I’ll do my damn best to get him that. 

Max: Well, now you make me seem like the bad parent.

Jessica: You said it, not me.

Cain: My wish would be for Harlem to stay as it should. I think me and my boys could use a break too. It’s enough having to run this whole neighborhood, keeping people safe and shit. 

Ibe: I just want everyone to be happy and safe. Especially concerning Eiji, things can get very stressful...

Cain: Somehow that guy gets himself in trouble at every turn. He’s like a problem-magnet.

Ibe, sighing: Tell me about it. What about you, Skip?

Skip: I don’t really know! I’ve always wanted to get a new game console for the base so everyone can play together again. I think Ash broke it last time. 

Ibe: Ash?

Skip: Yeah, he got really mad that Shorter beat him with Kirby for the fourth time in Smash.

Who has made last year memorable for you?

Sing: Oh man, so many people! I met a lot of really cool people and my guys are always the best so pretty much everyone in my life so far made last year great! 

Yue-Lung: That doesn’t answer the question. They’re asking about one person. 

Sing: But everyone made the year memorable... 

Yue-Lung: Well that’s not what they’re asking for. Just answer it properly.

Sing: Fine! Then you did. 

Yue-Lung: ...What?

Sing: Yeah, I never would’ve known that people could be that bitchy until I met you-

Yue-Lung: EXCUSE ME-

Blanca: Please, Master Yue-Lung. You still have to answer your part.

Yue-Lung, glaring at Sing: Fine. I guess... Ash Lynx. 

Blanca: Ash?

Yue-Lung: Yes, Ash... Not in a particularly positive way, but he’s definitely an adversary worth the time and effort. I will not forget what I’ve learned from my experiences dealing with him.

Blanca: That’s an interesting choice. I guess I would have to say... Eiji Okumura.

Sing: Eiji? Have you talked to him that much?

Blanca, chuckling: No, but he's quite the game-changer. It’ll be hard to forget how quickly things turn around when he’s in the scene.
