A manufacturing facility in Puerto Rico is happy to have their power back on after months of working in the dark.
The Remanso de la Montaña Nursing Home in Puerto Rico had been without power for 5 months, spending around $350 a week to run on generators. Well, that changed on February 14th, when their lights were turned back on.
With 70% of the electric demand in Puerto Rico, San Juan is just one of the many cities where progress continues to be made and residents are excited to have their electricity back.
Here's an inside look at how we're energizing Puerto Rico: first, by energizing the system, then going house to house to restore power to the homes, once it's determined that they are safe.
It wasn't easy but NYPA linemen and operators were able to get up to the mountain regions in Puerto Rico to help restore power and build roads so the infrastructure is more easily accessible.
