idk if you guys have heard, but this fall's hottest new trend? shame. i am begging some of you - most of you, let's be real - to add it to your wardrobes. i get this is a performing school and whatever, trust me, i am well aware, but does that have to mean we have to live like we're inside a musical? am i not allowed to get to class without being bumped into by you losers desperately trying to get a crumb of clout with tiktok dances no one wants to watch? newsflash- you're about five years too late and three points too ugly. you're not undiscovered, you just suck.

So for the first time in a while, I had a dream that actually involved performing on stage. Very strange considering it's been at least a couple of years since anything like that popped into my head, asleep or or awake. Must be something to do with getting back into the class schedule this week I guess, and being around all the artistic vibes again.

It reminds me of something I learned a few years ago getting my degree. Muscle memory doesn't just apply to the body, it applies to who you used to be.

So how's everybody else's first week going so far?

first tea of the semester (chamomile, because we’re starting gentle) and campus already smells like pencils and potential. i spent the morning half-writing lyrics, half-people-watching outside the café. everyone looks so busy and brilliant (and maybe a little nervous too?) if you’re around and need a breather or a buddy to not do homework with, i’m your girl. i'm trying to keep a list of good things that happen this semester before things get too intense, so please tell me: what’s something small that’s made you smile this week?

That Mean Girls cast list is the hot mess express. There are maybe two decisions I agree with. Not that I expected less in this economy but like... Half of you can't act mean without looking constipated, and the other half of you have the mean part down but can't sing your way out of a paper bag. It's going to be a trainwreck. I'll be sitting in the front row with popcorn.

So the cast list for this year's fall musical is out. How was I to know Mean Girls was a musical? I am neither mean or a girl.

Ah well maybe there will be a spot for me next semester. Hope everybody's happy with their parts. I wonder what type of mean girl are you playing?

I am a little worried for my obsession with the Formula 1? Like I love it. I honestly do love musicals obviously, more than anything but most weekends having the F1 to watch is just so much fun. Could be the attractive men or the competition that I relate too maybe? Anyone else watch the F1 or is it just me? If you don't what do you do with your weekends?

How's it going, NYADA? I'm Penny, or Nurse Penny, but Penny is also fine. I might've seen a couple of you in my office already, but I figured it'd be a good idea to introduce myself and make sure you all know where to find me if and when you need me. I'm the new on-campus nurse, found of course in the nurse's office, duh, and here to help with any of your medical needs. I'm not new to the profession, but I'm new to working in a college setting, and I'm definitely new to being surrounded by so much talent. Seriously, you're all amazing, and I'm kind of terrified because I can barely sing happy birthday on key, so I'll leave that part to all of you. I hear the school musical is happening pretty soon? So good luck to everyone with that! I hope you all get the parts you want.
